AnonD-731363, 23 Mar 2020Wonder why lowest of the low have 1/3 more battery juice than a flagship device. Samsung is ... morebecause the SoC in flagship phones are more power-efficient. even though these low-end phones use 5000+ mah battery, doesnt mean that they have longer battery life.

Frankly speaking, 9611 is actually 9610. It wasn't developed to compete 600 series.
I don't know why Samsung didn't use a new SoC for A*1 series.
May be they are going to use a SoC with own made GPU with the A series. This is why they didn't bother to develop another SoC.

Anonymous, 19 Mar 2020J series 2017 was excellent with metal build and OLED display for J5 and J7.But with a crappy SoC and the metal frame was so-so.

AnonD-754814, 18 Mar 2020I failed to get your point. Exynos 9611 is a midrange. Why won't they use it in a midrange device ? My mindset is relative to competition. For instance, Samsung is pitting the 9611 as their midrange SoC pricewise which competes with G90T, SD730/730G and Kirin 810 which were using a76 + A55 last 2019. It's 2020 now and still Samsung still stuck with A73 + A53 combo with their 9611.

I don't understand. If Samsung does want to keep exynos division working then why not let them to do some "actual work" and design socs for different segments, instead of spamming same 9611/7904 everywhere they go?

I get that Mongoose was shut down but hey, you already got expertise now, you have experience, you've been doing this for years for default ARM designs - biggest of all you got a top class fab facility that managed to challenge and beat Intel and others on manufacturing process advantages/innovation; unlike Huawei or mediatek.

Why don't they build their own different socs on regular, updated ARM designs now, is beyond me.

Maybe it's because of ISP or modem or some such. Perhaps someone else can shed some light.

Though things has changed with new M series.

Anonymous, 18 Mar 2020The GPU itself is not that bad. Last year the Galaxy a50 was faster than the a70 in terms of GPU.That's true. Old A73 was crap and A53 is too much power hungry than A55.
                              Bad move by Samsung.
In recent years. Only 2 good moves were taken by samsung in SoC.
The exynos 980 and collaborating with AMD to make own GPU.

Samsung lost themselves in the woods... Poor Strategy in releasing the same phone with different names.....If they dont want to go with qualcomm chipsets, then they need to create more exynos chipsets competing with various qualcomm mid range chipsets....Customers are smart enough to understand the specs, just ram/storage/more cameras will not do the trick, Performance matters.... Please get rid of A01, A10, A20, A40, M20 & M40 phones.... Low range can have A30 and M10 series, Mid range can have M30 and A50 series... Upper mid range can have A70 series.... M series should not have SAMOLED.... A series should have SAMOLED, Water resistant, OIS, Sturdy build..... By cutting short their portfolio they can provide faster Patch and OS updates.... Samsung need to concentrate on improving camera picture quality for mid range and upper mid range phones. Samsung dont have handsets to compete with Realme X2 Pro, Redmi K30 Pro and Oneplus 7T in terms of performance and price. They are trying suicide attempts..... Why the heck I should buy A71 in the place of Realme X2 Pro? I sometimes think that Samsung does it purposely to encourage competition, because they are supplying components to all the competitiors....

They're losing what made Xiaomi and realme popular
All their midrange phones are coming with the same processor
Who's going to buy their more expensive offerings
They all come with the same specs, except design
Only difference is one with a notch and one with a punch hole
Their optical fingerprints are a disgrace and they are extremely slow, unlike others so
