You have noo idea how much junk all chinese brands are and how much traff... moreYou know I actually have a PFSense router here that I myself have set-up just to manage all my local servers in my homelab and I'm much aware if any unnecessary pings a Xiaomi phone will do but as we all should know, Android will and always ask for permission before you first use your app. I can always opt to not use them if they collect data which they always tell the user that they do. Every Xiaomi app that uses external server always asks for permissions for user's aggreement on first usage. The user can always opt not to do so. Do you get this point? In Android, you can always opt-out. OFC, Xiaomi has their own server for their own cloud which I also use, what's wrong if it pings that "Chinese" server? It's an online service after all.
Everything that you've said about Xiaomi, you can always opt-out. Not just ads. You can always revoke any authorizations if you want because that setting exists. You seem to generalize these phones as "Chinese brands", my question is, how extensive is your knowledge about the settings in these phones aside from that hasty generalization? You seem to be someone that takes privacy as main priority but you should know that it will all go down the drain as soon as you use FB apps, they're the worst, 2nd would be Google itself.

I honestly don't even mind if it were as thick as 10mm as that would enable the usage of a bigger battery.

Put your phone behind a real dns server and see the magic of data flowing. And that is only dns requests, their is other traffic happening behind the curtines. Stop thinking you actually know something while you have no idea how much privacy infrignance those crappy devices generate every two minutes. You buy you're crapp, who's stopping you? Stop spreading b"t allover Nokia comments sections, i wander why GSMarena still let's you "speak".

But seriously, phone sizes have become completely ridiculous. 6... moreI'm impressed too of how much they can ask for a modest mid-ranger with only FHD display, NO OIS, two useless sensors, no audio jack, mid-ranger SoC and starting at 599 euros what a bad joke!!! The K30 Pro is a flagship killer. And the Mi Note 10 a proper Mid range premium phone. Xiaomi has improved a lot while HMD is more of the same, a void rented brand glued on mediocre phones.
Today even Vivo and Honor has some interesting phones in quality/price and maybe the new Ace2 even a Nubia Red Magic 5G is a better phone that this one and cheaper that this overpriced crap . We are still on march... If 5G is the only thing that this phone offers for that price, wait a bit and watch how many phones even at 200 euros will have 5G and how real flaship killers global variants will come full of all 5G bands along the next months. It's ridiculous how HMD always finds an excuse to sell mediocre hardware at a gold price and still some people applaud it. Maybe because they like buy overpriced phones. XD

I see comments like this almost everytime such device gets released - "it's too big", "I want a smaller phone" etc. And yet, if you search for smartphones under 140mm tall released in past 2-3 years, you get absolutely nothing except a couple of $50 no-name phones.
It blows my mind.

Quite impressed by this phone. But seriously, phone sizes have become completely ridiculous. 6.81 inches? Seriously? I want a modest phone, not a massive portable movie theater.
I hope Nokia can create a compact sized smartphone soon (around 4 inches).

i don't understand that people are criticizing hmd for being Chinese
those idiots who know about these realme(s) and redmi(s) cheap 5g phones should waste their 5 mb for doing some search that hmd is Finnish company not Chinese
secondly they are crying for being overpriced
yeah it is a bit expensive
but other 5g phone including flagship doesn't support all band those cheap Chinese phone barely support 3~4 and say it a 5g phone that is unfair

it's not true because Huawei doesn't sport
these bands :
n41,n7,n2,n66,n8,n5
so technically Nokia 8.3 is an actual phone that sports all bands
