Anonymous, 21 Mar 2020There is more demand for SUVs, but there is still a market for sedans, coupes, estates, trucks... morePeople keep cars much longer than they do phones, therefore are much more picky when choosing a car. While with phones people believe the bigger versions are always better and buy into smartphone marketing much more than car marketing.
Smartphones are also more likely to be seen as accessories whereas a car isn't, so people don't think as logically when buying a phone compared to a car
CompactPhones5ever, 21 Mar 2020I mean I get that most people prefer the larger phones, but there's obviously at least *some* ... moreYeah, which is why I was happy to see the S10e come out last year. It was a small flagship and the compromises were acceptable. It's a shame Samsung didn't have a follow up this year but maybe someone else will step in and make a similar device soon

Unlike the endless feed of massive slabs manufacturers keep releasing, there is an underserved pent up demand for something smaller.
Nothing wrong with the original design IMO. It’s still tasteful and elegant today, and this titanium & ceramic beast still looks as good as the day I bought it.
All they needed to do was improve the camera, refresh the SoC, and add wireless charging to make PH-2 a solid buy. If they also managed to squeeze in a 3.5mm jack it would have been killer. Their dedicated support of PH-1 earned them many fans, and I believe would have translated into viable sales.

S10+ sold m... moreI mean I get that most people prefer the larger phones, but there's obviously at least *some* demand for smaller phones that's not met at all these days. All manufacturers like Oppo and Xiaomi are pooping out absolutely identical phablets all the time, to the point that their new devices are basically same as their older generation (see Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Redmi Note 9 Pro), I just don't understand why don't they try something different for a change.
six_tymes, 21 Mar 2020looks like apple copied the PH-3 renders Yeah Apple copying an ugly design with teardrop notch lol.
This design are really ugly no wonder why company shut down.

The proof is in the sales. S10+ sold more than S10. S20 Ultra is getting more orders than the other two S20s. XS Max and 11 Pro Max sold more than their smaller versions. If more people are choosing the larger option then why would they make a small phone that won't sell as much?
I prefer smaller phones too but I realize the majority of customers don't care
CompactPhones5ever, 21 Mar 2020Agreed. There've been absolutely zero (decent) compact phones in past several years. Why doesn... moreExactly. What's the point of a fancy glass back when it's going to be covered in a case ?
CompactPhones5ever, 21 Mar 2020Agreed. There've been absolutely zero (decent) compact phones in past several years. Why doesn... moreAbsolutely agree. I'm also waiting for the iPhone 9, or SE2. They should retain the metal back from the iPhone 7 or the original iPhone SE. the Sony compact series isn't available here or I'd buy those without even reading the entire spec list.
six_tymes, 21 Mar 2020looks like apple copied the PH-3 renders Can‘t y’all read? This render is from early 2020, when Apple had their 11 Pro released for half a year already
Anonymous, 21 Mar 2020PH-3 look like something....near, close, alright Apple, you know its you! Well, at least if... moreWtf are you talking about. PH-3 development began in Early 2020, iPhone 11 Pro was RELEASED in Late 2019
Anonymous, 21 Mar 2020I don't care the name on it, make a small phone and I'll buy
The market is full of gigan... moreAgreed. There've been absolutely zero (decent) compact phones in past several years. Why doesn't some manufacturer make some decent midranger with 5.2" display? With today's slim bezels, such phone would be about as big as the old iPhone SE. I've never owned a single Apple device, but I'm probably going to switch from android to iPhone SE 2 once it comes out, because Android manufacturers completely forgot how to make pocket-able devices.
btw "In addition, the PH-3 was supposed to sport (...) an all-aluminum build." - that's a shame. Another thing I hate about these days smartphones is the stupid glass back which breaks on the first fall. Aluminium backs should make a comeback.
looks like nothing was lost with the cancellation of the PH-2. the PH-3 would've been nice, though, if only because it's not all glass for a change

Smaller chin than Nokia.
