Anonymous, 24 Mar 202048 quadbayer does not have more details than native 12 of same size. Exactly.
Anonymous, 24 Mar 2020Because It will have less details and worse hdrHow ? Can you explain ?
AnonD-914443, 24 Mar 2020As you said...panasonic cm1 looks ugly due to its large sensor but I didnÂ’t see any dsl... moreThere are cameras with fixed lens. They can be fixed focal length like Sony RX1 (Full Frame with 35mm F1.8) or true zoom like Sony RX10/RX100 (both are 1").
The other are ILC (interchangeable lens cameras). They are thick because bigger sensor generate more heat and these cameras need to lose heat as they can.
Sony Alpha does 4K30 at 100Mbps, which is consider very low. Also, except Canon and Leica, all other use Sensor stabilization which requires space to move sensor.
Something else. Phones use lens elements with same size and shape. Cameras have different elements for different purposes, they have different shapes and sizes.
Impossible mo make a camera with 1,2cm thickness like phones.

Just slower shutter for landscape.
You can use night mode, if you do not mind fake colours.

AnonD-914443, 24 Mar 2020I didn’t understand why they don’t not use 1 inches sensor with 12 megapixel.Quad buyer allow for double exposure shot at a moment; it doesn't need to have any sophisticated algorithm to allighn frames (such as the HDR+ on Pixels). If you'd use a 1 inch sensor, you should have had this HDR+-like algorithm to doudge ghosting. With double exposure that's much easier and is supported by Qualcomm's on-chip solutions

Anonymous, 24 Mar 2020Marketing reasons, 48MP, 64MP and whopping 108 MP sound too good to miss the marketing hype.Hmm may be
Anonymous, 24 Mar 2020It does have better detailsAll those that used 48MP, did not showed any difference between 48 and 12 modes.
Same for Huawei P20 Pro and its 40/10.
IpsDisplay, 24 Mar 2020Except
This is all about computational photography for mobile phones and multi image stack... moreIt does ....
All phones that boost HDR uses stacking. None is applying different exposure at pixel level, which is main purpose of quadbayer.
A 8MP 1,5 micron will never outperform a 12MP 1.12 micron if same settings are used. You can put software of iphone 12 inside iphone 6, it wont be better than current one.
Modern sensors do not have issue with light leaking between neighbor pixel like years ago.
Mine has 1.2 micron. Results are completely different if I use iso 50 and 800. Does not look even from same device.
Make a test with your phone. No matter if it has pixel of 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 or 1.8 micron.
Let ISO go 800, 1200, 1600 and photos will be trash compared to 50 and 100.
Which professional cameras give the best images? Yeah, those with more resolution.
I see people go nuts for any bit of noise. There is no photo without noise. Not even from the best camera ever made.
Hahahahaha... Even Honor 30 beats S20 Ultra.
Huawei > Samsung
Anonymous, 24 Mar 2020People still have fixed idea that pixel size matter too much.
Unless you nees very high ISO ... moreNo, it's correct that pixel size isn't important for low dynamic range scenes in perfect light conditions when the sensor size is the same. For high dynamic range scenes or extreme low light conditions with the same sensor size, pixel size is very important due to read noise, if the smartphone doesn't combine different exposures (for example Google doesn't combine different exposures).
Regarding Iso: A high Iso analog amplification actually leads to less noisy raw data, so it's the opposite. Furthermore there are different definitions of Iso. Actually Iso isn't a physical setting at all. Iso is just a number that describes the relationship of jpg brightness and exposure and every manufacturer can define Iso differently.
Pixel size got sense, but sensor tech, optics, processing can do a lot too. It's important to not forget real output matters.
It's also important not use too much data(possibly) resolution as poor processing with little pixels is less than better processing with bigger ones. Huawei may got that golden road with 50mp, it's not little but only as much more as processing can take. Mate30pro processing was the best, look at pattern or grass at 10mp.
