Anonymous, 24 Mar 2020It does have better detailsNo, it doesn't when it uses pixel binning.
Anonymous, 24 Mar 202048 quadbayer does not have more details than native 12 of same size. It does have better details
Anonymous, 24 Mar 2020People still have fixed idea that pixel size matter too much.
Unless you nees very high ISO ... moreExcept
This is all about computational photography for mobile phones and multi image stacking hdr etc
So I don't think your points fit the context very well
If the size of the pixel is 1.2um, then this sensor is a new 64MP Sony IMX sensor. (For a 48 MP 1/1.3" sensor, the pixel size should be larger than 1.4um.) The Honor 30 series (Honor 30 Pro, Honor 30, Honor 30S) will be formally announced in early April.
Anonymous, 24 Mar 2020Because It will have less details and worse hdr48 quadbayer does not have more details than native 12 of same size.
AnonD-914443, 24 Mar 2020I didn’t understand why they don’t not use 1 inches sensor with 12 megapixel.Because It will have less details and worse hdr
AnonD-914443, 24 Mar 2020I didn’t understand why they don’t not use 1 inches sensor with 12 megapixel.Because :
- costs much more, also harder to make (more silicon is wasted during manufacturing)
- needs more space (thicker and wider)
- lenses get larger, thicker and heavier (space between elements increase too)
- bigger sensors have slower readout
- bigger sensor generates more heat (unlike CPU, you cant use low litography for image sensors, most are not even 28nm)
- it will compromise design, Panasonic CM1 is too ugly.
People still have fixed idea that pixel size matter too much.
Unless you nees very high ISO , it wont matter on small sensors.
At iso800, phones already lost more than 50% of performance.
There are FF with smaller pixels than few Micro 4/3, still can wipe the floor with them.
Settings matter much more.
Want better night photos? Dont use auto. Dont let iso pass 400.
AnonD-914443, 24 Mar 2020I didn’t understand why they don’t not use 1 inches sensor with 12 megapixel.Marketing reasons, 48MP, 64MP and whopping 108 MP sound too good to miss the marketing hype.
I didn’t understand why they don’t not use 1 inches sensor with 12 megapixel.
My 1/2" camera feels old now
