Wouldnt they be looking to maximize profits? Nice idea about the magnetic ports though. I always wanted to try one of those magnetic usb, but they cost a little too much for me.
OnePlus has lost my interest lost time ago.

So my pop up idea, along with my portless USB C and Jack idea :
https://www.gsmarena.com/newscomm-41946p2.php#2021464
And other idea I have, including a really practical wireless charging system who use contact (in a convenient way) rather than induction which have poor efficiency and cause heating limiting the maximum charging power...
And many idea other peoples also have.
Most are totally faisable, realistic, not expensive and amazing, yet while they are publicly written and under no patents, no phone maker ever cared about.
Also we live in a society where innovation is actually rare, we are just constantly trying to push things to their limits without trying to do any efforts in order to find better solutions, which sometime are easier to make and better.
They are behind the game now, disappointing from OnePlus... Same boring old design

This is a pretty lazy effort. Sigh.....
AnonD-909757, 25 Mar 2020Removing the pop up camera was a stupid choice, the pop up is the best solution for fullscreen... moreMain reason it was taken way was the ip68 rating, internal space for 5G antenna and probably the weight as well.
Lol and people thought OnePlus will have same specs and camera as Find X2 Pro.
Removing the pop up camera was a stupid choice, the pop up is the best solution for fullscreen design as it also give privacy, many aspects of the pop up can be improved, it cal also enable to put a serious configuration of front facing 3D facial recognition sensors.
But they reverted to a pseudo solution of fullscreen which try giving that by removing a part of the display at the most critical place, where informations are displayed on Android...
The pop up can be made cheap, with a single moving part (the module itself) using electromagnets (linear actuators) which also make it really small (no more motor or screw, only two really thin electromagnetic coils around the pop up module and small magnets inside it) which would make it waterproof, faster and even more durable and reliable than it already is.
But rather, they took the stupid decision of drilling a hole in the place that nowaday is one of the most expensive part of the phone with incredibly high resolution, clarity, touch sampling, refresh rate etc etc...
All that for a SINGLE front camera, rather than putting many useful sensors out of the display...
I can't believe someone is stupid enough to choose to make a hole in the display for a single almost useless sensor rather than hiding and lifting the part where a useful set of sensors are, so they are out of the way and protected when not in use and give a 100% fulldisplay without any real drawbacks.
Not everyone like the pop up, I get it, though most actually don't care (most non tech oriented peoples don't even know it exist and when they get one phone with it, they don't think much about it) or actually would like it if it wasn't the completely false fear of fragility or wear or water resistance that so many peoples kept saying again and again despite the evidence that is : There is almost no report of pop up camera failure.
But the truth is, the OnePlus 7(t) was fine with one version with it (Pro) and another without it (Regular), they should have kept things that way !
And based on how well the OnePlus 7(t) Pro and Mi 9T (Pro) got sold, it prove that many peoples like the pop up and despite all those, I never read anyone complaining about it.
Give a pop up with 3D facial recognition on a OnePlus 8 and I'll buy it ASAP, even better with the sweet sweet Qualcomm's 3D Sonic Max.
I just know they're going to implement 120hz better than Samsung.
I wish they would tone down the curves that's the only thing preventing me from trying their phones again, heck I wish they'd all stop with the curves tbh, on the Note 10+ without a bulky case it's the unintended touches festival :
