Which in theory means that the update was hard-coded. But I'm not 100% sure a hard reset won't affect this.

1 question : is the driver update hard coded to the GPU or its firmware or will a factory reset wipe that GPU update ?

The difference between the S9+ and A71 is of 91 vs 73 points (out of 100).
The S9+ basically moped the floor with A71.

Next time ask someone with better knowledge in smartphones and don't let them trick you into buying midrange garbage.

Just that all of it is in the gpu. You would need to run dolphin emulator games at higher resolutions to see that, since pubg or fortnite are all easily able to max out with a 730.

Livius, 25 Mar 2020I changed my S9+ with the 8GB version of A71 and there is no difference in performance at all ... moreYou might not notice it but the S9+ has 2x the GPU power of A71... If you had the Snapdragon variant, that's a total downgrade.
I also have a phone with 8 GB of RAM, and even when opening Asphalt 9+CoD Mobile+Mario Kart Tour+Dolphin Emulator(NFS Underground)+Damon PS2(Tekken 4), I still have more than 2 GB free, and that was only for testing purpose, when gaming I close every except the game I'm playing, so 6 GB should be enough.
Well, yeah, I already knew about the update, that seems to be a really big deal to you.

S9+ wins with better camera, stereo speakers and screen. At this moment in time, I would take A71 over S9+ with my eyes closed.

Next time buy a real phone : Galaxy S or Note series.
My advice: if you can't afford the latest high-end flagships, go for last year's or even 2 years ago. They're still better than any new mid-range phone out there.
Especially if you play games or you're a heavy user.

They can update drivers of any phone in the world but if your phone is not whitelisted by the game developer, your game would still run the default non game-intensive setting. There are lots of phones whitelisted by pubg to not run 60fps in midrange, especially the Chinese-made phones but it's known that if usera would use gfxtools to push 60fps, their device is more than capable.

Google and Qualcomm are already collaborating with multiple game studios including Gameloft[Asphalt 9].

So I thought it would help Gameloft whitelist all flagships and powerful enough midrange.
