ME, 26 Mar 2020To me the phone does not look like a Sony.Z2 and Z5 had flat frame.
Same chocolate bar design we all like.

Someone that does not read about tech think all LCD screens are same just different resolution. They do not even know what oled is.
They do not know there are many types of screen, storage, glass, audio tech etc..
These people does not know that a phone with 3600mAh can last more than one with 3900. Then they buy the ne with more.
Someone from India told me once that tons of people there buy Xiaomi and Realme just because they cant afford iphones, not because it is the device they want.
If you want one device, you will buy anyway if you can pay for it. Nobody is gonna say NO to it because charging speed.
Anonymous, 26 Mar 2020Any company can do it if they want.
There are ones that simply chose not too.
LG, Google,... moreNo wonder all those companies are losing marketshare in the smartphone segment.
While, Chinese manufacturers are eating these companies marketshare for breakfast.
Anonymous, 26 Mar 2020how do they take care of the heat? would love to know that unless there is some passive cooling. Why don't you research more on individual proprietary fast charging tech out there.
Google is your friend.
To me the phone does not look like a Sony.
To Sony is more important that your battery keep 97, 98% or 100% after 12 months in expense of a faster charging.
Other brands consider more important to provide full charge in 40 min, no matter if battery will lose 5, 10, 15 or 20% per year.
Simple ....
Sponge, 26 Mar 2020I'm now considering this over the latest S20 or P40 range!!For sure!
1. Xperia
2. Huawei
3. Other or none.
Only these are a must have regarding quality and ease of use.

LG, Google, HTC, Apple, Motorola do not have 30, 40 or 60 too.
Straight from Tesla manual
"The peak charging rate of the Battery may decrease slightly after a large number of DC Fast Charging sessions, such as those at Superchargers. To ensure maximum driving range and Battery safety, the Battery charge rate is decreased when the Battery is too cold, when the Battery’s charge is nearly full, and when the Battery conditions change with usage and age. These changes in the condition of the Battery are driven by battery physics and may increase the total Supercharging duration by a few minutes over time."

But were it to be two years ago as you said; in two years, any battery would degrade regardless.

The heat is taken care of in latest fast charging tech.
That is the only significant factor which detoriates battery life in long term.
On top of that, Xiaomi are providing 30-40% more charge cycles out of the box compared to traditional phone batteries with less charge cycles. Sony is simply behind the curve.
You can't compare fast charging provided by pioneers in that industry to manufacturers playing catchup.

If it were different the SD SoC wouldn't support it.
I also seriously doubt you two part battery theory that two part battery charges faster ?
To do this the phone needs double parts which is a complete waste of space and results in less battery capacity.
I don't know if anyone did do any testing on different quick charge. But Scientifically more wattage means more heat and it's harmful for the battery and after some months the higher wattage battery should degrade more than the lower wattage charged battery.
Anonymous, 26 Mar 2020You still do not get it ...Easy explanation to you.
Let's use three prototypes of same device... moreLet me explain this to you
You still do not get it ...Easy explanation to you.
Let's use three prototypes of same device.
All support 40W.
Prototype A will be used with 40W.
Prototype B will be used with 20W.
Prototype C will be used with 10W.
Now you use all them same way. During 12 months.
After 12 months, they will have the same capacity.
Prototype A will have similar to B and B same as C.
This will keep going on as long lithium is used

This proprietary charging is different. Sony is simply clueless in fast charging department.
Your Sony phone will definitely show battery degradation if pumped with 40W, coz it's not designed to handle more than 21W.
Besides, when Sony gives you 50W charging in 2022, Will you still continue to charge your device with 5w charging and use it till 2030? Don't rob others off the option to use faster charging.
In previous posts, you were pulling numbers out of your a*s, like 4500mah battery detoriates to 3900mah capacity in one year. In real world, no such degradation exists otherwise there would have been tons of ppl complaining about it on multiple forums.
Not losing more brain cells arguing with delusional Sony brand lovers.

Also, two batteries of 2000mAh charge faster than one of 4000.
Exactly what oppo does.
