It is actually an amazing number given the situation
No heart rate sensor, no headphone jack, no notification led light, yeah blame it on corona lol
Who will buy those overpriced phones from Samsung? and to make matter worse they removed headphone jack. Personally I would gladly buy a last years S10 plus at discounted rates rather than these latest overpriced phones form Samsung.
It's almost like removing stuff while jacking the price up bmakes the phone less attractive to buyers, and that the hype behind 5G bombed. Who'd have thought?
That's amazing news!! So nice to hear that Samsung is bleeding - they deserve all of this as they have been scamming costumers for such a long time with their Snapdragon vs. sh*tty mid-range exynos chips.
I really hope they will continue to bleed and loose more money! They deserve it so much.
Well the s20 series has been an overpriced disappointment.
The biggest aspect of upgrade a user can feel and use is an increased storage capacity.
S20 maintained the same 128GB storage as the S10. the S20 is not an upgrade really.
when expected the S21 would be with 256GB storage. and have all the strength of the S20 has, conscious users could consider expecting the arriving of the real better successor in 2021.
Removing the 3.5mm jack is WRONG. it is a downgrade act to all the sound conscious users. Sound conscious users would have to spend extra US$250 for a new good quality wireless receiver, or a good quality USB DAC. Samsung did not lower the price of the new phone model, instead raised the price by US$125. The marketing staff did not understand the users and the market.
Too many people had lost the job, got the income reduced. purchasing would become so much more cautious in the next few years. it is not necessary to buy a new phone every 12 months.
the "20" had become a bad number, bad luck, a worst year unfortunately. the bad number was accidentally chosen and used. Calling S11 would be all right and natural. Quite many bad changes and decisions had been made on the S20.
bj80sbaby, 27 Mar 2020When you remove features and raise the pricing, it makes sense sales are down. As much as I want to attribute to that (3.5mm jacks etc), businesses were shutting down and Samsung backported s20 features (software) to their s10 lineups.
abc_to_xyz, 27 Mar 2020It sucks that they'll have pandemic as the reason to cover their failures. I bought S10+ few w... moreThere's mass unemployment here like how Seoul had 1000+ diners/restaurants shut down due to lack of customers. And more unemplyment may still to come.
S20 features were also backported to the S10 so there's that. If a rise in battery replacements show up this year or the next, it means lessons were learned. Otherwise, same old same old.
It sucks that they'll have pandemic as the reason to cover their failures. I bought S10+ few weeks ago after going through the option to purchase this failed product.
Anonymous, 27 Mar 2020maybe dont remove 3,5mm jack next time? thats what happens.. u get what u deserveThat makes minimal difference. I bet that most don't notice.
I thought that's not only because covid-19, but how Samsung cut some selling point features from Galaxy S line, such as heart-rate sensor, dual aperture camera, and so on. Galaxy S20 just a common smartphone with no wow innovation and sold with high price.
zamroni1, 27 Mar 2020i am not surprised. s20s bad things: larger and heavier than previous s series; modem is not ... moreHow many "regular buyers" would know/care about whether the modem is integrated? Yeah, it puts us off, but the mass market are not bothered.
annoikki, 27 Mar 2020keep raising the prices and see what happensHahaha that's true and well said
I read this article every other year with the S Series. No-one seems to link it to the fact that service providers put people on 2 year contracts. People bought the S6, S8 and S10 in their droves. Go read the articles on the S9 and S7. Same thing, different year!
Not only due to covid-19 but them being overpriced with not as much interesting features.
No schnitzel!
People nowadays are like: "Humm, should I buy the new S20 Ultra or a month's worth of rations?"
Also, I never complain about high prices, but wtf? I could buy a good i7 gaming laptop with 1.5k, study programming, earn money.

I wonder what the shut-in tech expert think about the new smartphone prices this time.
