To people who think this an April Fool's joke from Oppo, please search for WattUp by a company called Energous. https://www.energous.com/

Terry, 01 Apr 2020Actually this technology is in works but the issue is that it doesn't provide sufficient watts... moreThe distance doesn't has to be 10 meters like in the video it can be just 1 meter and it will be waaay more useful than current gimmicky wireless charging

Hopefully this is no joke and we are really closer to true wireless charging unlike today's pad charging, it doesn't have to be 10M even just 1 meter enough to make it damn useful

Namelesss, 01 Apr 2020Nice April fools! A phone that recharges itself with solar energy would have been more plausible Indeed. With cameras behind displays now, it would not be unthinkable with a solar panel under the display. Even if not enough to generally charge the device in reasonable amount of time (even with the sun in Zenith), it at the least could prolong the time between conventional charges.
(Whether it would be worth the added thickness and weight is another story, but for some it might)

Why would they invest in an awesome video for a joke? The video looks amazing and a lot of work was put into it. It would be a waste to make just for a joke.

air charging is real, real world usage may differ though. Its probably EM radiation, like microwave or laser, so its hard to use safely like when the device is in hand.
