And the new oem will come to take lower price market. Xiaomi's margin of profit of 5% is ridiculous yet they are charging xiaomi mi 10 pro 5g at 1000$. BS. Do they really think we are all idiots. I dont care about the branding as long as the top flagship is at 600$ max!.

Plus they have nearly the cheapest dataplans in the world (~12 USD for 3 months, 42 GB/month or 1.5 GB per day)
This is a huge setback for the mobile phone market in India. I hope the government restores the previous GST asap.
Phones should be exempt from taxation so that they can stimulate the economy and bring more tax revenue elsewhere. But I'm not an economist what do i know.
Hope it'll also teach some of the Indians that everything comes with a price. They wanted a rebadged Redmi K30 Pro under the POCO brand with Sd865 for $265, what a April Fools joke. Other developing countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia even pose higher taxes than India.
This is an April Fool's day joke. If it's really true then those price increases will be short-lived as global recession takea its toll.
Anonymous, 01 Apr 2020GST is a tax on the poor. Now less of them will be able to afford phones. There are different classes of phones. Not everything costs 500-1000 dollars....
