Never bothered to use Google Play services or Google Play Store fo... moreI have exactly the same phone as well, and while I leave GMS running, I disabled auto updates from the Playstore and deleted/turned off nonessential Google apps.
If you want to be safe, buy an iPhone instead. Apple can't guarantee 100% privacy of course, but there is much less spyware than most Androids.

Always updated my apps manually.
Kept that Spyware play services frozen when not needed and always behind a firewall.

How about Camera 2 API? For a phone that has such great camera specs, not having Camera 2 API is total clusterf##k. Saying aa I have P30 and my Filmic Pro can't use Cinematography Kit Upgrade. Please read online about this to find more info. Definitely one should take this into high consideration before buying any Huawei device and considering doing some advanced stuff with photography and videography.

Clearly the lack of GMS and the high price (And they aren't alone in the high price segment) will not help them.

Top camera and quality for device overall P devices. My personal statistics show that overall quality in time is for Xperia and Huawei. So indeed a ultra developed quality Sony camera in this Huawei. Thank you for that!

Having no google services is okay for me..actually I do want their new harmony os and I am very excited to see that in their phones, I want the end of android and google dominance in the smartphone market. Besides, more competition means healthier market and more innovative products and services.
