iPhones come 5 plus years of software. Apple has wold class customer service and replacement programmes in place for keyboard, subsidised battery. Samsung doesn't even accept return if you used the phone for two weeks and not happy. Android phones only meant for people who love the app crashing, unexpected shutdowns. Used Samsung s7,s8,s9 and s10, Pixel 3, Huawei MAte 20 pro. Android phone offers all the flashy features that no one cares. Split-screen is the only good thing but sucks on an 8GB ram phone. iPhone colour calibration and app quality are better than all the android phones.

I went from an iPhone 6 to a redmi note 8T. Android has been amazing and liberating. Miui works like a dream and is free of problems.

Tons of people prefer Touch ID over ugly notch /dumb gestures.
That is why iphones sales are decreasing.
I have an ipad. I would buy the Air over Pro for touch ID button.
Gestures are annoying to me.

Seriously though, to each camp their strength and weaknesses, but one thing is always true:
It is the user experience that matters. Both camps try to offer the best, and usually Apple nails it (for their users, mind you) more often than not.
The re-use of the iPhone 6/7/8 design was in the cards for a while. They are not trying to create a "compact" phone, but rather a cheaper phone, while still offering the best experience possible. To do that and still use the design of the 11/pro would create big competition within its own line-up.
So, you get the best CPU they have, and an excellent camera, but you don't get the latest form.... for many, it's a fair trade.
If you are not biased to either camp, probably shopping on the Android side would net you a more satisfying device (as mentioned on the thread here, the S10e is an awesome phone that is very close to the X/XS/11pro, offers "close" performance, camera quality, and good experience (especially with One UI 2.0) for significantly cheaper prices. Mind the future updates though, as they last much longer on iOS devices.
The SE 2020 will not be a hit in markets where the carriers still subside the phones as it will compete with the $0 price of the XR (and probably soon the 11), but for markets where people buy their phones outright, it is definitely an attractive proposition to many,

Let's just say that android is a blessing to poorer people, if it were for apple only about 2 out of 10 people wanting a smartphone could actually own one. That seems to me more important that which is better, android or iOS.

I already just proved how the "resource hog" Android skinned with OxygenOS is faster than iOS. Perhaps you simply don't know how to read. Perhaps you were brainwashed to ignore the facts. And learn how to spell "optimized", there's no s as the seventh letter. For someone who loves (falsely) talking about the optimization of iOS you sure do know nothing about it.
I've used an Apple product. The iPhone 6 a few years back. Didn't like it, so I got a OnePlus One to upgrade. Boy it was way more optimized. Despite having way older hardware my OnePlus One was optimized so well it felt faster than my current LG V30. And yes AirPods are garbage. Most competitors sound way better as many reviewers like Flossy Carter say. The Homepod is garbage. The support for streaming services on it are garbage. And Macs are WAYYYY slower than PCs m8. I've never had any lag at all with my 16 gigs of 3200mhz CL16 RAM, GTX 1070, Ryzen 5 1600 and 1 TB m.2 drive that can get up to 3 GB/s speeds. It's faster than the $6000 Mac Pro in terms of graphics, memory speed, and storage while costing about 1/10 the price. Though it's likely slower in terms of the CPU, I wouldn't know because Apple likes to brainwash it's consumers by not saying what CPU model any of it's products have. It just says meaningless things like "8-core Xeon" and "up to 4.0GHz" as if that means in terms of performance. The FX 9590 has specs exactly like those yet it's slow thanks to the architecture, something Apple mentions nothing about. And why are you bringing up Chrome OS? You're using $100 laptops in a comparison with multiple thousand dollar desktops? How sad.

Android is a resource hog. This is the exact reason why instead of optimising the OS, OEMs constantly result to adding more resources to compensate. Increase the battery & RAM just to keep up with the highly optimised iOS.
Clearly you've not used any Apple products. Calling AirPods & Homepods garbage? LOL Slow Mac? hahaha it is so much better than Windows and of course Chrome OS.
