I don't think a 2017 flagship has the specs of a 2020 mid-ranger. Processors, cameras, batteries... All of these things become more powerful every year. If you think that mid-rangers and low-priced are for kids and grandparents, I suggest going back and looking at the best phones of 2020. Redmi Note 8 Pro (mid-ranger) was always on the top 10. People don't always have the money for flagships. And people don't get jobs to buy high-priced phones, they get jobs to survive. And of course people have different opinions.

Also, you might think that Xiaomi is doing a great job and yea I agree with you but you can't trash talk about all other companies like they are giving us very high priced phones that deserve a lower price. If you cannot afford a flagship it's completely fine, all Phones are for everyone. All companies are doing their best and you have to respect their job.

Looks like someone's having a hard time accepting the truth. People are still buying their products, even if they are on lock down.
And if you can't afford the latest high-end flagship, you can always buy last year's or even 2 year's ago flagships. Low and mid-range phones are for kids and grandparents.
