A good thing to have more choice of SoCs.

I think this is of a direct move to rival Apple in terms of tight hardware/software integration solution to better compete in the cut throat smartphone market and also to widen the gap in terms of performance between ios and android devices in general.

Moving away from custom cores will see Android devices move even further behind Qualcomm.
Have no idea why Huawei doesn't do a custom CPU core.

I think the current exynos soc always uses ARM standard design on the Gpu (note that I'm not talking about the Cpu), correct me if I'm wrong and if I'm not, is this really going to close the gap between the next generation exynos and snapdragon?

When ever I'm presented with the option of a Qualcomm or Exynos I will go for the former 10 out of 10 times. No questions about it, same goes for any of the other Chinese silicones.

Google doesn't get it. First, they need to fix their design. Then they need to get the specs right. Then bring their camera system on par with their competitors.

Once they've done all that. Then they can think about going for a custom SoC and all that.

Amazing. Here's hoping that Samsung can provide better support than Qualcomm is offering. Qualcomm is always eager to end support for silicon that is 2 years old or more. Compare to Apple, which supports their silicon for 5 years or more. Hopefully Samsung can churn out chips that will support updates long after their release.

notafanboy, 09 Apr 2020"Samsung to design a custom Exynos" Everyone disliked that.Actually it is Samsung Fab to build Google designed SoC based on ARM CPU and GPU with integrated Google Visual core and NPU.
Also this wont be an Exynos, Samsung Fab also sometimes builds for Qualcomm and that doesnt make Qualcomm SoC an Exynos, rather Google will name this SoC just as Qualcomm names its SoC Snapdragon.
