No one else offers value for money like Xiaomi except maybe Realme. But then Realme is part of a massive conglomerate so who knows if they're deliberately making a loss.
If anyone else can price their phones like Xiaomi but without ads, they'd be doing so.

And no, I'm not spending money to disable ads on the youtube and spotify apps.
YUKI93, 13 Apr 2020Because apps downloaded from Play Store can be uninstalled. MIUI? You need a custom ROM.So i would need to uninstall all apps as pretty much every apps have ads? Just think of it this way, you are paying low price for a discounted OS and the full hardware. The key is, if one can live with constant ads on all the apps they use, why can't they live with MIUI apps that can be turned off once and for all? its no big deal after the initial setup.
I take the latter any day, any time over apps that doesn't allow you to even turn off notification of promotion, let alone ads.

If you look at it this way, you are paying for the hardware and a discounted OS. I would expected a phone to be ad-free if I am paying a premium for it.

In SE Asia and India, prices of Xiaomi handsets are quite cheap, although they come with intrusive adware.
This is why I have mentioned that 5G is pointless for now (consider comms infrastructure of the country). And if you cannot buy the handset, it's simple, don't buy it.
I think that for Europe is good option, because of the Qualcomm Soc! Samsung is with Exyonos in EU! No Mather that, the price can be not so high!
Nicolas F, 12 Apr 2020How can Mi 10 be nicer than Mi 9 while having curved display? Curved displays are bad in every... moreNonsense, curved display gives you ultimate sense of 100% body to ratio feeling. Dont tell me you are using your phone without cover, cause it is stupid to do either way you have curved or not curved phone, you will destroy any phone in no time without it. So think again. Curved dispalys are definitely not a bad thing, gives you premium screen design feeling, and puts you away from monotonic and outdatef flat displays design with huge bezels.
One side-effect of Xiaomi's new pricing policy is to weed out those buyers who rely on custom ROMs to use Xiaomi's phones.
If you routinely use custom ROMs for your Xiaomi's smartphone, you probably should never have bought it in the first place. To put yourself through such a pathetic smartphone life for the sake of saving some money is simply not worth it.

You already paid for the phone with the OS, you shouldn't even have to turn ads off! I'm one of those people who mostly pay for apps and I have no problem with that. 999 Euro to watch dating apps on your new phone is too much.. and yes the international version also has ads. They can for the most part be disabled. But not 100%

2) Yes people have a choice. There are a lot brands there. If you cant choose, then the phone is not for you. Or if you want you can make your own phone company.
3) You know, phone companies and customers have different interests. you might not understand it (yet). There are phones out there that has no notch. Are you buying them? Or did you buy them? I mean, phone companies cannot satisfy everyone's needs (or wants). You just have to live with it.
Im sure up to now, you still dont understand the word preference. But its ok, i understand you.

When opting for an Android phone, one is in pursuit of the demon that makes its livelihood from the art of displaying ads and the mass collation of data. Android and ad-blocking go hand-in-hand (as you appear to elucidate in your comment), unless one enjoys part of the scarce screen estate resource being occupied by ads.
Such is the pervasiveness of ads on Adoogle's OS, my first and foremost task on any new phone is to sideload the app firewall/ad blocking APK named NetGuard (available from F-Droid), configuring all outbound connections from the device to be blocked by default unless white-listed.
Following this, sideloading the excellent Kiwi browser (built on Chromium and WebKit) that allows for the import/export of bookmarks (Google sync doesn't work as intended), installation of various Chrome extensions (e.g., uMatrix, Tampermon key, a cookie manager, etc), amongst other features.
Android out-of-the-box is filled with data-harvesting and privacy issues, to the extent the user is paying with waiving his/her rights of freedom to conduct both online and offline activities with the never-ceasing surreptitious monitoring by Adoogle.

Article quote, "The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 5G is also much nicer than the Xiaomi Mi 9."
A sorry state of affairs that the Mi 10 price is no way near as nice as the Mi 9.
