Can't upload to cloud immediately in areas where there is low speeds or poor network coverage especially with mammoth files of 4k video recording. Here micro SD is a life saver. Plus you can access those videos whenever possible without having to connect to some external pendrive or HDD.
Besides, MicroSd is not faster than internal storage. Internal storage makes huge difference in recording high bit rate videos and slow motion recording. We don't want artifacts during recording coz of poor microSd speeds. High speed microSd cards also cost more.
Hence, 128gb non expandable storage is weak specially considering the price tag.
Atleast give users 512gb ufs 3.0 storage like Find X2 pro if you are going to skip microSd slot.

Why do people still go on about micro SD cards. isn't 128gb or 256gb, hell 512gb enough. You have cloud storage now and you have even usb c sticks that go up to 1TB. It's like you want to pay more for device.

As always. Camera department take most cash for r&d. So we get billions trillions snapdragon 865 5g phones with nice screens. Nice phones, just garbage overall (all in one package) for that you buy apple samsung s20 lineup or huawei as I do the last one from 2019 till now and will continue the huawei thing

Cheap phones, great support, decent hw and a cheap price. That is the one key way to market and drive a company who wants to try to make it big with Android. Any other maker back then would have done the same to be hopefully up top one day. By the Time oneplus 5 came around (4 years) they finally established a place where they can milk consumers or take a loss as needed. If they had not been cheaply priced in the beginning they would have sank like other ODMs out there. Or they would have not been where they are today. Never settle for a lower price might be true but the funny thing is that people like you and me will still pay 7-900 dollars for it even though it does the same basic things every other phone does yet somethings better. Better is relative though...you get my point I hope.

OnePlus is now "never settle...for a low-priced phone"
So I guess now we know what their endgame was all along...not to make flagship killers at reasonable prices, but to get people hooked with low prices and then steadily jack them up. OnePlus has most definitely priced themselves outside of any consideration from me for one of their phones for the foreseeable future.

I certainly didn't ask for official water resistance for that very reason. All I wanted at least was bigger battery, return of the headphone jack, and expandable memory (even IF it meant using Huawei's Nano Memory cards, I'd suck it up since it's better than nothing). If I got those three, I'd get the phone and the 256GB version would probably have been $900 instead.

I am a bit disappointed by the lack of a pop-up camera which is probably going to push me to buy the 7t pro when this phone launches. I get that it isn't very practical but the premium feel is irreplaceable and I can't stand notches, especially ones that are similar to budget phones like on the a10 a20 etc. Will stay with my S9 plus for the time being unless samsung has a large price cut. I hope later on oneplus will release either a pop up cam version of the Oneplus 8 or a Oneplus 8e. (smaller edition)

They are all between 28-40nm.
There is a reason for that.

Last release 7T dominated more than the 7T Pro, observed that 7T Pro had only a minor upgrade from the 7T. Now, this year's release if based on the spec stated above. It can be observed a wide gap between 8 and 8 Pro, now they are making amendments in their mistakes last year however it was imbalance that you can think if it is worth to buy 8 than 7T which can be also conclude as minor upgrade.
I can say that consumer will go to 8 Pro that is if the price suitable for spec ratio, other than that 7T will sell more than 8 or loss of oneplus loyal consumer.
