I think its interesting the comparison between iphone and the N95 - regardless of the fact that the iphone couldn't MMS and couldn't record video - everyone forgets the iphone was only available on AT&T.

This is what made the N95 an extremely popular phone. I had one back then. I also had an iphone that was jailbroken with a spoof SIM card so that I could use it in another country lol... TBH hands down preferred the N95

Such a great time we all had with Nokia and this was the best Nokia could offer I have used this phone for many years then shifted to Nokia c7 and used it for 7 years until hmd showed up and brought android to Nokia and I ordered from China the first Nokia android phone Nokia 6 which is still with me as my daily driver, fell many times over 6 feet but still working. It's not just the phone but the era was also without tensions like these days so we loved many things created then and there was no one to compete

I've had N95 8GB and it truly is one of my all time favs. Well-rounded unit with great capabilities for that time. I was crushed when Android won, same as Americans were crushed when Coca Cola changed it's formula.

I still own a N95 and is working perfectly. I am using it sometimes just to remember the old times and is always a pleasure!

Paul, 15 Apr 2020The Windows phones Nokia made were far better than the Android ones. I found the Windows mobi... moreI used to provide software support for windows mobile for 2 mobile brands. It had more bugs and glitches than a sloth! Battery problems, heating problems, freezing problems, not to mention that almost every caller complained about the lack of apps and demanded a refund. Also, most of the apps that were available were not optimized at all.
The fact that you couldn't disable the tile view was one of the things that I hated the most. No customizations = I'm better off with a crapple phone.
If things would have been the way you said, there would be no android now. Even Microsoft migrated to Android! Need I say more?
And Meego was a complete failure! Symbian was the best Nokia ever seen before jumping to Android, but too late. Now it's just another china replica brand. It will soon join HTC and LG. Just watch.

Did even use any particular phones? I did.. Today's all UI has minimum common usabilities as Megoo or Plam os or symbian or fire os.. That's why today android is my favourite (Raw desktop fan specially linux and windows along with os x).. Just compare because symbian had similar UI as we use in android..

Used to be a dream phone of mine. That five megapixels camera was amazing at the time. The accelerometer sensors were futuristic by then and playing asphalt with them was kind of cool. Though that is no match for today's technology, I think the dedicated music controls were something useful. I really miss them and wish new devices would have them.

If they only adopted Android when it first appeared, Nokia would still be king now, instead of a china brand that makes bad phones and slaps the logo on them in the hope that the majority don't realize it. Face it. They're history now.

Symbian was the best ever made OS. I'm really sorry that apple came with that piece of sh!t and wiped symbian off. Symbian could do multitasking with only 128mg of ram better than android with 12 gigs of ram and ios (the wrost ever made os) with 6 gigs of ram

Had one for years. Great phone. I used mine until it finally broke - like 5 years ago(!!).
I literally went from the N95 to the Meizu Note 2. What a leap.

The battery door broke and I had it held together with an elastic band. lol

The thing was well built to survive that long. Every feature you could ask for was in there.

After a while the built in browser became hopelessly outdated and couldn't open modern web pages, so I installed Opera Mini for Symbian. Credit to them, they kept that browser going for Symbian long after the platform had died.

Also, in the early years, Waze had a Symbian version, so I had my first 'live' GPS driving experience using that phone. The maps would update periodically even.

Can't say I didn't get my money's worth from that amazing piece of engineering.
