That's the problem mate. Apple is playing smart here, filling a market gap that all other don't see, or don't admit, or don't care about filling, or don't believe is worth a model. Not even a single model.

For $400, this is actually scary for Android world. We all know how good Apple's chipset and camera are. With Huawei blocked from GMS and big brands like Samsung and Oppo churning some goddamn expensive phones, this could lock midrange phones to Apple.
Sure there are still people who loves Android or big screen but with mostly Xiaomi and Realme fighting for midrange this will be hard for them. Samsung A series perhaps could fight a bit but with damn old chipset it wouldn't stand a chance.
$400 is not that much for young people. Get them locked in on Apple's ecosystem early and they will use Apple all the way what a scary plan.

US prices look really good for this specifications. Also it will get 5 years of software support from Apple. But for rest of the world price, after considering local currency exchange rate, import / custom duties and tariffs, it will start from $600-700 for base model and it will be $800 and $1000 respectively for higher storage.

Mate, they are buying big display midrangers for $160
1-apple ecosystem is problematic. UI is not for everyone
2-display is 4.7" and let me tell you: that is SMALL. I, for one, cant use that because even the 6.4" A50 display is not big enough fpr me to type properly.
2-sometimes what they need is a good telephoto rather than an excelent main camera. Mostly students I guess?
3-storage is also a problem for iphones. And no internet storages arent the way. SD cards are.
4-battery life of iphones (except for 11 series) are good, but nothing special. Not close to what you would get from a 4500-5000mAh midranger (prices mentioned are for my region only: $300 iphone 7 has half the battery life of a $250 A50.) And for those who use the phone at medium levels most of the time, midrangers are the way to go.
