alera, 16 Apr 2020OnePlus doesn't sell good in China because of the price compare to other chinese brands so a c... moreYou are absolutely clueless. OnePlus phones don't sell as well in China because they are not competitive, not because they are higher priced. In terms of brand recognition, OnePlus is way way behind many others. For comparable phones, people would choose Vivo and Oppo over OnePlus. There are many phones priced way higher than OnePlus, and they routinely sell tens of millions of units. The P series and Mate series are priced way higher than OnePlus models in Chinese market, but they routinely sell 20+ millions units. Mate 20 series sold over 40+ million units. The Chinese market is the largest market by a large margin, not just in terms units sold but also in terms of revenue. It is the most competitive market where the worthiness of a brand is ultimately tested. A smartphone model can sell competitively in US, but not so in the Chinese market with the same pricing, because the American market is basically closed and buyers don't have that much a choice.

Even though OnePlus has a tiny market share in China, probably less than 2%, OnePlus still sells 7-8 million units per year, larger than any other single country market for OnePlus. Does OnePlus sell 7-8 million units in US? OnePlus was ranked #1 premium brand in India, in terms of units sold. Does OnePlus sell 7-8 million units in India? For the last fiscal year, Sony barely sold 3 million units in total. Go figure.

Samsung has less than 1% of the market share in China, buy they still sell a few million units, almost exclusively flagships, e.g., Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z Flip, Note series, etc. (S series are not in demand. Samsung mid-rangers are universally considered garbage.) In terms of the profit margin, Chinese market must have ranked high enough for Samsung to put in lots of marketing effort even today.

Anonymous, 16 Apr 2020Even without google systems in it !?I'm not heavily invested in Google and it doesn't mean anything to me. Also I rarely use any apps, maybe 5-7 apps in total.

I use Gmail which I can access through the Huawei mail app, I transferred all my Chrome bookmarks to Microsoft Edge browser (which I really love) and then I just use Whatsapp and Messenger and 1 game. That's it. My net banking I will just access through the browser.

I'm buying the phone for the camera. I love to takes photos of nature but don't want a real DSRL so this phone is the next best thing.

I still think that Oneplus make great phones, and they're probably well worth the money (we'll see about that for the Oneplus z because the specs will be much different), but they're just too pricey for me now as in the past they were much cheaper for awesome quality :D

Well they need it since with iPhone SE many of Android brands will need something good at midrange price.

I still think Oneplus phones have some value despite the increase in prices. Their phones are built better now. Their software is their best selling point for the Western market. They are competing with Samsung and Apple so it's still kind of a flagship killer. Tbh I don't buy expensive flagships, I go with midrange but I'm not quick to criticise just from the price. Also even if Oneplus fails in China, its siblings will live on. After all, China isn't their main market.

alera, 16 Apr 2020OnePlus doesn't sell good in China because of the price compare to other chinese brands so a c... moreoneplus doesnt sell well, because its too bare bones aka too stock...Chinese prefer full flavoured ui. colorOS is more popular than hydrogenOS. Other facts are Oppo spends money on a lot more 4g bands than other brands (not including huawei, but honor cheaps out here as well).

The market is very different and after living in china, it is true, Stock android is inferior to such things as miui and flyme os from xiaomi and meizu respectively though ads, but then again chinese apps love ads, so not something unique.

P40 Pro is the best camera phone in the world and it also just won an award for it so you can say whatever you want.

No other phone at this time can compare to P40 Pro.

On a scale from 1-10 where P40 Pro is a 10 then ONE+ 8 Pro is a 2, maybe 3 at best.
