    Nemanja, 17 Apr 2020Nice argument. I am using Honor Magic 2, sliding phone similar to Xiaomi Mix3. I never had any... moreThanks, this is truly amazing how peoples make a problem from something which isn't one, the only report of pop up failure I've found is on OnePlus forum about the OnePlus 7(t) Pro, and it have like 2 or 3 answer of peoples saying they too had issues, other than that, there is almost no evidence that any pop up, slider or flip camera system ever failed on any Smartphones (other than drop/slam test and other torture and abuse obviously).
    Like, yeah in theory all those issues can happen, but in real life none actually do...

    Like, in theory many thing could destroy the universe/reality, from constant that off even by a tiny fraction would make matter unable to exist, or some extremely stable matter so stable they would convert everything they touch basically dooming anything made of regular matter...
    But we are still here, theory and reality can sometime be almost opposed.

    Personally I can't handle a phone with notch or hole, I hate them so much that I'm at war against those, I want either a bezel (least preferred solution), a pop up or a no front camera at all, but I want it with 3D Facial recognition too, meaning all those tiny almost useless pop up can't something I'd buy since I have almost no use of the front camera and I don't like the unsecured 2D facial unlock (though facial unlock by itself, 2D or 3D is SO practical and pleasant to use, I'd still buy a good phone with 2D facial recognition if I need to).
    Sadly the only pop up phone with 3D Facial recognition is the Oppo Find X, and it more an hybrid between pop up and slider phones than a real pop up.
    I don't really like slider phones, but I'd take a sliding phone, mainly if it have 3D facial recognition (like the Honor Magic 2 3D) over a phone with notch/hole anyday !
    Also, I am not sure how Huawei/Honor will handle the phone and mobile data situation caused by Trump, and technically the situation can potentially get worse, even for existing phone, so I personally would really hesitate to buy one of those, but they make great phones !

What you said earlier is just a conceptual use case for 5G service provider (operator) not for us, end user who use phone. The phone or device is only use a 5G physical module and its software, so the major development or redesign is on service provider side. I am engineer who work directly with 5G technologies, but 5G challange for end user is most likely not in software, but hardware because its super flexibility and phone maker dont want to put every physical module in their phone (bound by physical law), and why tho end user need every module.

I am using Honor Magic 2, sliding phone similar to Xiaomi Mix3. I never had any issues with it for 1.5 years so far. No protective case, keeping it in my pocket, no issues with dust.
        I think I'll be hoping on P40 Pro+ train when it comes out.

          Let's see, for example, the P40 Pro vs Iphone 11 Pro:
          * Both have Face ID Tech, 3D face scaning
          * EMUI is too, very similar to iOS, in app icons (the settings app, please!), conceptual menus, notificacion shade, default OS navigation...
          * Propietary tech... Want to expand your storage? NMCard! Apple have their Lightning port. Both to make you buy more that you need.
          * Model naming. Mate X, Mate Xs, MatePad Pro, Nova 6 SE... among others.
          *Huawei Card, because Apple Card exist.
          *Their launch price, for boring specs. (If Apple can, why i not?)
          I mind about the other business of Huawei, but in the mobile market... Is trying to be more Apple, that the Apple itself.

              Ironically enough, I am sure a lot of peoples who usually are against the pop up with the imaginary arguments of "wear, dust, water, failure point, moving part" and all those theoretical issue that doesn't apply in the real world, would be the one who will want this kind of phone.

                Apple is a company for consumer products. Huawei's primary products are for enterprise and infrastructure. Huawei's entry into the smartphone space is accidental, and it is at best a side play.

                      What we really need is a completely New mobile OS, a new form-factor, i.e., smartphone 2.0, modeled after the 5G world, and taking full advantage of what 5G offers:
                      (1) Massive Machine-Machine communication;
                      (2) Reliable Low Latency;
                      (3) Super High Mobile Broadband.

                      The current smartphone (as envisioned by Steve Jobs in 2007) and Android OS only taking partial advantage of (3), and has no relevance to (1) and (2).

                        I love the effort from Huawei. But maybe focus more on your harmony OS and stop being dependant on Google Android. Time to get off the Google milk bottle.

                          The future of Android smartphones is defined by the Chinese phone-makers. Samsung will be there to supply the components, as a "component king". Sony will be there, too, to supply the camera sensors. Soon new Chinese companies will start to produce camera sensors, post-next-generation display panels (post-microLED), etc. We don't see any relevance for LG and like. We don't see anything interesting from Apple, either.
