Of course they're cheaper there. That just makes sense given the trade deals and import charges. Still better value than $1000+ devices.

I think the price hike overseas, not only have to do with logistics costs and taxes, but it´s link to the China propaganda of being the greatest economic superpower in the world. I believe the economic war between China, EUA and Europe, with the last two imposing more restrictions in the comercial trading affair, provoque an inflation in electronic consumer goods. Also, demand is higher than ever for this premium smartphones, and with the virus outbreak there may be supply shortages. The same is to say that if you have high demand for a product and you cannot fulfill this demand entirely, prices will obviously rise.

Another angle is that components are getting more expensive, because companies are cramming their devices with overkill technology due to lack of innovation, with more cameras, more hertz, more ram, more memory, and that kind of internals reflects a higher price tag in the final product. Ultimately, this companies are taxing the rest of the world with the margin profits they stipulate, because they can, because they own the smartphone business, and with the bleeding economy outside China and Asia, they're going to exploit this fragility and suck all the profit they can. The world is becoming, more than ever: Made In China!

The hardware is exactly the same. Yes, we have to pay taxes, shipping costs etc (so do people in virtually all other countries). It does appear to me that we are subsidizing OP's customers because of fierce competition in the respective markets in China and India. Sorry OP - this isn't acceptable.

GSMareana just did a simple price conversion.

In reality, is more than that. The low salary in China, made it suitable for reseller to sell at lower margin. In USA, they need to have a higher profit.

Anonymous, 17 Apr 2020Actually parts of the GMS core is used in China, this changed was a result of some AOSP compon... moreUhm... I did not debate about the "core" of (AOSP) GMS, I said GMS (aka Safetynet, Gmaps, GDocs, GTranslate, GAssistant, etc.) and I never mentioned anything about the GService's embargo in the Communist country, so, what are you talking about?!

I for one do not need a history lesson or a China refresh status situation to know what are the current events that are happening in the Communist country.

This is good news. Just get the phone shipped from China and save money. AliExpress is a good option for this purpose.

Apple does the same for Asian markets. I consider this pretty fair.

Why GSMArena didn't point it out when Apple launched SE2 in India at $555 for 64gb, $620 for 128gb and $764 for 256gb? Is it fair for us to pay $150-200 on each model? You guys never point it out because it's a US brand.

VAT is huge though. In Germany it's at 19%.
So the 521€ in China would become 619.99€ in Germany.
Which leaves a price difference of about 80€.
I would assume that logistics don't add much, especially since these phones will be shipped in bulk. So the 80€ difference will pretty much stand.

Pretty much the same situation as with Mi 10 / Pro.
What looked like amazing deal - top cameraphone for a bit above 500 euro ... Came at ridiculous price in Europe.
If you want flagman price you simply can't afford to be a measly flagman wannabe. You have to tick ALL the boxes and then go beyond. For example advertise and develop great maintenance network and spare parts supply chains. Buybacks and exclusive services...
I am now using Xiaomi phone. Can I give it back and have discount for Mi 10?
Probably not because ... well noone wants refurbished Xiaomi right?
