I am not aware of any phone which is using PLS panels lately. Only other patented panel type is TN and that is bad w.r.t viewing quality even those are not used in smartphones. Anyways by generic I meant not IPS because in smartphone world if it is LCD, it is either IPS or a 'generic' TFT panel.

Additionally all the latest IPS tech patents are held by LG, so if this is not LG IPS tech then surely will be a generic TFT panel.

It is hard to find a good affordable mid-ranger not being excessively big. Pity. There must be a market wide enough for such production, but I hear more and more folks questioning current size fashion.
