The 1DX mark III is focused at sports and wildlife shooters who need a much more reliable body that can handle rough environments with optimal weather sealing and excellent AF at longer focal lengths. Sports shooters who shoot at 600mm or more will enjoy the traditional SLR AF system as that performs well on longer lenses compared to on sensor solutions.
The R5 is targeted to the same users as the 5D series. Meaning more on hybrid video and photo needs with all the bells and whistles that the company can throw at it.

Reason other brands (Nikon, Fuji, Panasonic, Leic... moreI own a Sony DSLR, and while yes, Canon underperforms in high ISO noise, it isn't by as much as some would think. Usually it trails Sony by a quarter to half of a stop, which in real world makes barely any difference.
As far as sensor comparisons go, Nikon used Aptina and not Sony for top end DSLRs, while Canon used Sony sensors for some advanced point and shoots.
Canon beats Sony hands down in egronomics, ease of use and menu customization, which really makes me lean towards upgrading my A77 mkII to a Canon EOS R series, rather than Sony A7 series.

Now I'm out the video and effects industry and poor.... I'm kinda happy I'll never be able to buy this camera.
But dawn I want it, but big gripes... Only 8k in raw? (I assume 444) no 4k? And why on earth is there no option for a 444 codec like dnx? 422 is just such a big let down... Fine for your greens and reds. But the moment you have blue light sources it's going to clamp and blow out like nothing else even at 8k...
Still want it though, but at least I don't have to have it.

And even at the same bitrates, phone camera can never win.
The sensor size, the lenses, the OIS... All are superior to any phone available in the market.
Comparing DSLR to phone is just dumb.

I highly doubt that a 1D X users (professional studio shooters and photo journalists) care about 8K, IBIS and other fancy and trendy stuff.
By the way, the 1D X is $4999 at B&H.

Also the mirror increases proce a lot. That is why they are so expensive.
Mirrorless will always cost less than DSLR, even if they bring much more stuff.

The R5 got better specs than the recently launched 1DX M3. Let alone 8K with DPAF, IBIS and 4K up to 120fps. By no means, I expect this to be priced lower than the 1DX M3. The owners of the 1DX M3 are now going to look stupid considering R5 is around the corner. The 1DX M3 is $6499 USD. The just-announced C300 M3 video camera is priced at $10,999 and offers most video specs as R5. I'm yet clueless about how they are going to maintain the thermals inside. I guess R5 would be priced between $8000-9000 USD.
