And yet many people still trust huawei. They'd lie about anything..
$1,400 price tag in their phones, for this type of marketing...
This is your hero?
No one smartphone can beat big DSLR quality images, even in high megapixel and low apenture for low light smartphone manufacture the result is the same as low pixel, can control and manage the quality thru software. i guess not even huawei cheat on camera look dslr even other manufacturer can cheat images quality. i cannot imagine that 2nd spot huawei can cheat consumer to promote best camera smartphone. Yes true camera is great but not as great like big sensor of DSLR.
Still at least this is a mistake for their mobile photography contest instead of promoting their phones like the P30 and Nova 3 before.
from BLU till Apple.. everybody does that.... nothing new, nokia 920?
Good going Huawei. I will no longer buy any Huawei and Honor smartphone. Honor Play will be my last smartphone from you.
As if their trustworthiness and creditability isn't already tarnished enough by the Google ban, now they're pulling BS like this.
I'm not bashing them, they've made some great phones
Mate 10 (non-pro) was the best smartphone of its time imo
Wow n this is just what Huawei needed to win the trust of the people..poor company
At the end of the day these smartphone cameras are not even close to large sensor dslrs or MILC. These manufacturers know it too but they have to fake it till they make it.
[deleted post]U have a link or something, I really must read this thx?
The sharpness of those photos are just too good for smartphone sensor, specially the panoramic ones, with an small sensor the picture would look like oil paint and blurry as hell. Also, for those long exposure shots, it's evident the use of ND filters and by looking those pics seems to use nice ones like Lee or Cokin. It surprise me a photographer like that (Or Huawei marketing people) would enter those pics in the competition without caring about the consequences.
Ok I just now realize I misunderstood the origin of this incident. A competitor tried to cheat, and succeeded due to lack of background checking the entries to the contest. Excuse me for reading way too fast.
Its either fault of 'Huawei Next Image 2019' website upload settings, careless editor or even take advantage on the participant that broke its terms & law using it as promotional ad. All depends on editor to check the EXIF data before getting shortlisted.
'Huawei Next Image 2020' upload method has improving now, with real-time EXIF reading before getting pass to successful upload (means u cant cheat anymore in submission process). These are some of my screenshot for Next Image 2020 contest, where its automatically recognize what device your using - https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1L0EUa-NWIbkLnG5AGrdcMQ1sNcq0rAEb
Nevertheless, it is likely Huawei just cheating on it just for the sake of promotional purposes lol.
Nick Tagataka, 22 Apr 2020Sigh, not again.. how disappointing. As always, those criticisms are something that could've ... moreDang I wrote basically the same thing, safe from a few differences. Guess I should have read the comments before posting
I'd be happy to say that this is a Huawei problem, but no, it's a Marketing problem. An easy fix would have been to claim that those pics are only for illustrative purposes from the start, but no, the temptation of making it seem like these are smarphone pictures is too big. Huawei did it and others did it too (although one has to admit they did it more often than others, at least as per the incidents that are publicly known). The real culprit is the lack of strict rules against such "playful deceptions.
Is there any point in spending for marketing anymore, Huawei? Again & again they embarrassed themselves. They spend money to get bad reputation. Huawei is really something. They are super tolerance with all the same mistakes they've made. They basically disregard their own smartphone camera that top the dxomark.
the editor just wanna make the things work faster and launch it. something could have been avoided if the editor was given extra time and went outdoor to have real shooting but it's totally impossible during this pandemic, H brand always like to have last minute decision just like in ID company and everyone rushed for it without given extra time, the superior mostly just know how to scold staff rather than training the subordinates patiently or given direction. this would always be happened if don't change the root of all problem, management
Sigh, not again.. how disappointing.
As always, those criticisms are something that could've been entirely avoided if they had put "those images are for a promotional purpose only" writing on the bottom left corner of the video. They should know it by now that repeating the same mistakes won't get them anywhere but only worsens their reputation. Whether it was actually accidental or not, they're not known for the most honest advertising methods to begin with, hence extra care must be taken when publishing a promotion video like this. Huawei should own it and fire the head of the promotion team immediately.
