no doubt that two largest company combine together. Well Motorola is the pioneer in mobile industry and they are one of the best company that makes phones, not only in terms of features but main thing i really like with their phone is the uniqueness of the looks and the DURABILITY. I was using MOTOROLA RAZR flipphones before and till now it still doing good, now it was android i am so great they make a MOTOROLA RAZR in android OS and it really satisfied my needs in many fields ( MUSIC, INTERTAINMENT, SOCIAL HUB) ....love it. so proud that i choose the right brand

Xavier, 24 May 2012To Yani : Yes ,of course ,I mean manufactured phones by Google ,not nexus phones ,so Google ... moreDoesn't make any sense. . .

Why would Google want to become a single HW manufacturer (like Apple), when they can simply offer their SW through hundreds of other HW manufacturers?

This would only fuel Tizen/WP sales, as the current Android manufacturers would prefer to go for those OS's. Brand loyalty to Sony, Motorola, LG, HTC, Huawei and others, would probably be stronger than loyalty to android. And how many Androids do you think they would be able to make alone? And how about the cost and retail prices? They would skyrocket

Bad idea. Better to license Android to multiple manufacturers. I just wish newer version would come to phones much quicker, and equal for all manufacturers. If this can be done for WP and ios, it should be possible for android as well. In my eyes, it's only weakness.

And Btw, Android's market share is larger than ios in phones. Climbing in tablets, but here i think many are waiting for W8 tablets, like me. In my opinion android is perfect for a phone. Phones have such large screens and great possibilities now. Android/ios tablets does not offer much else compared to the equivalent phone. I hope W8 will give the extra punch here, in a Transformer style solution.

lol, 24 May 2012moto now has: new owner new CEO and new marketing strategy? i hope... so lolLet's hope so. After all, isn't Google one of the largest marketing companies in the world?

I wish all Android would be nexus phones, with immediate access to newest version of Android, like vowelPhone and WPs. As long as the HW is good enough obviously. Manufacturers launchers, widgets etc should easily be updated along this. After all, other 3rd party launchers, widgets and more are.

Xavier, 23 May 2012Please make "Google" branded phones ,that's very interesting ,anyone? What do you mean by "Google" branded phones?
You already have the Google Nexus series which is supported by Google only.
Or do you perhaps mean total "Google" phones that will be MANUFACTURED and supported by "Google"?
I can tell you that you DO NOT wish for that to happen!
If that happens other manufactuers will fly away from Google really fast and Google will (at least in mobile department) go the "Nokia way".

I wonder (in the distant future) if Google has plans to own or buy shares in other manufacturers of Android phones/Tablets. HTC, Samsung, Sony (minus the Ericsson) etc. Hmmm... Interesting.

Sky Guy, 23 May 2012Boy, I can't wait to see another three Droid Razr spin-offs.Do you also have this problem with HTC's many "sensations", or their "ones"? Perhaps also Samsung's many galaxies far far away? How about the Xperias? How many do you count? No interested? Perhaps Lumia floats your boat? Or how'bout a small vowelPhone made by fruit?

The beginning of patent wars. Hey Goorola, invent a good feature phone with 16Mp autofocus camera with dual LED flash, and a long-lasting battery, then take my money.

Just hoping that it won't mess up the idea of android being the open source os, or we might see a similar situation as for nokia and symbian...
