It's not just s20 series the S10 lite users have also been facing different types of discoloration at low brightness levels, OnePlus 7t has it, op8pro users have reported it so this is something wrong with the panels or they are not calibrated, I wonder if this due to the pentile matrix system they use now instead of standard RGB

I am using an S8 and Tab S5e, I know where to criticize with those two devices for example and it's not just little nitchpicky things.

Samsung is not a small company, their mobile division is not the smallest either. If they expect the consumer to pay a large amount of money every year or two, they better provide better software support and stability.

With my Tab S5e for example I'm still on Android 9 and my S8 won't even get it. Meanwhile Apple has an entire dedicated OS for the iPad and even five year old phones are up to date. It's tough being a Samsung user.

When you use the 'fanboy' slur it's obvious that you're not being genuine. I have a Samsung device and it's fair to criticise them, but I never call fellow Samsung owners 'fanboys'. If you have a logical brain, you will understand that the vast levels of features and options in One UI mean that their software developers have a tough job. It's frustrating when things need an update to fix a problem, but they usually get on and provide it.

This appears to be the same hardware issue that my Huawei mate 20 Pro had, (purely due to the BOE screens) my phone was replaced for another non BOE one. This would affect their bottom line tremendously.

Shows how rubbish is the S20. Shame it's a very expensive device for an Android.

Based on the photo, it looks like the bias voltage was wrong. This is something that's typically factory calibrated.

LEDs have some inconsistent voltage at which they begin conducting, and then current rises exponentially with more voltage. Modulating them near the turn-on threshold can be tricky. A continuous current would be too low to measure and there's no consistent voltage that works either. It's usually done by pulsing a brief current on top of a bias voltage set just below the turn-on threshold.

dazed1, 22 Apr 2020wipe cache partitionAlright here is some proof that Samsung didn't fix the issue and samsung is just trying to MASK a defective display. The picture on the article on the left was the actual calculator app on the phone, after the update, here is how the calculator app looks:

https://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_se_2020_random_thoughts-news-42758.php

Oh wow, Samsung fixed the phone! Nice! It was just software and evil exynos factory causing this, it has nothing to do with a defective display, right?

https://www.dropbox.com/s/in7tn3risf3sgd6/20200422_152131.jpg?dl=0

Now look at this screenshot from the calculator app on my Note 10+:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/klwjir7rlyss34a/20200422_152058.jpg?dl=0

Looks nice and uniform dark gray in the monitor, right? What happens if I send this screenshot to my S20 and open it in the gallery? This:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/6dymbizi56xlktq/IMG_20200313_174008.jpg?dl=0

And what happens if I open any other non-samsung app with dark but not 100% black background, or a 5% gray picture? This:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/6dymbizi56xlktq/IMG_20200313_174008.jpg?dl=0

So yeah, I'm still seeing the issue in my snapdragon unit, it's just much more subtle in OneUI and native apps.

Here are more pictures showing I have snapdragon, build date february 28th and latest update of April 20th.

Did they reveal what exactly caused it? I know it was related to the refresh rate, but what triggered it? Anyone know?
