Bottom line....OP 7 Pro owners should wait another year for OP 9t Pro...no reason to upgrade whatsoever...
I am pretty sure many of those 39% of people who said One Plus 7T Pro is a better phone, don't necessarily want to buy a One Plus 7T Pro. There were no other negative options, so that is why they choose this option.
If you guys had put some options like: "I will be looking at other brands", the percentage would have been even higher.
But I kind of get it, you just wanted a comparison between last generation and this generation of One Plus phones, not comparison with other phones.
Hey GSMArena, I have made a better poll result article:
"Dear community,
In the previous polls, we asked on your opinions of the new Oneplus 8 series, and we were really excited on your thoughts. But what we saw in the comments wasn't a flourishing debate... we saw the trust of you, the community, our foundation, smashed and broken in pieces in front of us. We were to caught up in the hype that Oneplus created, that we didn't think of the people that knew better than us. That Oneplus had settled since the Oneplus 5. We focussed too much on the 30W wireless charging, and fancy colours... but forgot that the prices that Oneplus is asking are ridiculous compared to the lack-luster cameras and production issues that have plagued every single one of their phones. Basically, we failed when we forgot to be objective, and we failed again when we decided to ignore your valid opinions. We have angered the people that had helped us grow, and for that we are truly sorry.
We want you to know that the Oneplus 8 is a good phone... but we now agree with you that it is overpriced. No phone deserves a pricetag of over $600, no matter how many buzzwords a manufacturer will use. Because what we will learn from this mistake is that we write these articles for normal people, and $1000 phones should not be normal, never. From now on, we will make articles like these more interactive, and include the values of norms of real people, not hype.
The GSMArena team"
There. I know you are reading the comments, so hopefully you take this problem more serious. Everyone here is pissed at your ignorance.
I'm just going to ignore this phone and wait until 8T pro comes out. Maybe it will be better and will bring back features like the 960fps (don't know why they went back to 480fps... at least do 1080p@480fps)...
If you had not voted in the poll, then please go to its page and check the comments. Only then will you get the real opinions of people about the Oneplus 8 series.
Not addressing the overwhelming amount of criticism in the comments, I see. That was a bad poll with manipulatively formulated options. Very poor conduct on your part, gsmarena. You're bettee than this. Or at least, you used to be.
'Many in the comments pointed that the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are actually the successors of the 7 and 7 Pro rather than the T-series.'
Ah, so you do read the comments. That means that you decided to ignore the 50% of comments that complained about the biased poll options. No, you come up with the same stuff, 19% this, 30% that, only 12% here... We don't care about statistics, especially if they were flawed in the first place.
Anonymous, 26 Apr 2020Obviously the pool was biased. No negative option. And the negative one won!!! As the only wa... moreNever settle - the 1+ price never settles :)))
Wow I did not see the poll but those are some loaded questions! They seem to be written by marketing people. Is this a native ad?
What I like about Oneplus compared to other brands:
- clean software mostly without bullshit. (They have a very stupid popup when you increase the volume to 100%)
- good updates
What I don't like about all phones these days:
- Too big (a 5 to 5.5inch screen is more than enough)
- Curved screens
- Weak, Glossy, Glass designs (my phone is a tool so let me throw it around without breaking it or seeing irritating scratches. learn something from those expensive nonsmartwatches)
What I don't want to pay extra for:
- 5G (don't care, will only be important from 2025)
- More than 6GB of ram (because at 6+ you won't find a difference)
- Extra camera's (One good main camera please with camera button)
- Fancy looking bodies (I have to use a case because you made it fragile so the only thing I will see is the screen)
- 120Hz screen
- IP68 (it only has to survive the toilet and rain)
- Non standard wireless charging (normal 5 to 10watt wireless charging is nice to have)
- In screen fingerprint readers (I have oneplus7 and the fingerprint reader is worse in speed and accuracy and it adds nothing to usability)
- Wifi6 (will only be important in 2025)
My ideal oneplus:
- fast soc
- 6GB ram
- 256GB fast storage
- 1 good camera with camera button
- no case needed because it is strong and scratch proof (provide a way for d-brand to easily make cool skins
- 5.3 inch 16:9 screen (to get a compact phone)
- USB-PD 3.0 support
$500
Well in India it costs much lesser, at 42000inr(540$)
So I am going to pick up one once lockdown opens, or Amazon is allowed to sell non essentials, at this price compared to other 865 phones in India it seems a better deal, and with oxygen os software updates will not be a worry.
mehtasameer2087, 26 Apr 2020And if they read all this then surely will start degrading the performance of 7 series ,that's... moreNo not OnePlus, my Oneplus 3 still performs as it did 3 years back, apart from the reduced battery backup.
And if they read all this then surely will start degrading the performance of 7 series ,that's how these companies sell
Obviously the pool was biased. No negative option. And the negative one won!!! As the only way to be negative was ignore it or the 7T is a better option but people will not buy the 7T will buy phones from other brands that offer a better value for their money. Starting with the hardware, features and ending with the support, aftersales, etc. And more that now OnePlus is reducing its presence in several countries to maintain profits while increasing prices. lol
And still some people believe that the money goes to the workers. Those are easily fired, the profits are for executives and shareholders mainly. The prices in their main markets clearly show it and the margin they have. They went too far in its Never Settle greedy climb. Now the more vulnerable ones pay for it. But there is no return. It is already done.
Add 50 - 100 euros more to the 8T - 8T Pro. Never Settle!!!
And here I was... Expecting you to say something about the stupid choices you give. Nothing.
This is extremely disheartening. Every single poll is so darned biased that it puts forth your hatred or love for it and also stupid in the sense that you give options revolving around buying and nothing else. No person is going to buy every phone, every year.
I guess cutting a hole in the display and increasing prices significantly for an incremental upgrade was not the right move.
The 8+256GB OP7 Pro launched for $699, and now they are trying to sell the 8+128GB OP8 for the same amount of money ($699) for basically the same phone with a punch hole design. "Never settle" seems to be also accurate for their profit margin policy
The options were so conservative to start with and I understand that there will be revenue or goodwill loss if the answers had options like - OP8 series is not a worthy upgrade or I will look for other better brands.
You guys are tied to brands so cannot offend them, especially Chinese phones. They do have tonnes of money but much bigger ego too.
If the poll had open and balanced opinion, the answers would have been different for some things.
