OLED technology, just like CRT of old, has theoretically infinite contrast. However, the actual display still reflects some light even where the pixels are off. So no infinite contrast for any real world display. The closest you can get to infinite contrast is to go to a wilderness close to the equator and far away from artificial lights, and look at the stars in a moonless night. Due to atmospheric scattering of starlight the actual contrast is not infinite, but the sensitivity of the human eye is not sufficient to tell any difference.

It is with good reason Apple always infuses distinctive words to its technology, so to herd in its flock, as a shepherd does with his.

Anonymous, 25 Apr 2020Oled is 1.000.000:1 ... Infinity is just to fool people. Wrong. OLED can claim a contrast of infinity because they can turn individual pixels off completely; fully black, zero light emitted and any number divided by zero is infinity. If it still have a value then that mean the black is still emitting light.

Why bother advertising the contrast ratio when pretty much everyone already knows almost all OLEDs have basically perceptibly infinite contrast ratios.

If only it could be DCI-P3 compliant, it would be a really nice display.

They all have but Apple has more which it's plane same one. Sow another great nonsense comment before this one. How when you divide something with zero you get infinity. I wonder who ever let such people to pass even in elementary school.

All oled have same constrast.
1.000.000:1.
This just because Apple said 11 Pro has more than 2.000.000.
Now brands will say their screens have 4 millions, 7 millions, 10 millions etc .....

HDR10+ is a free format that works like Dolby Vision.
So unless you watch contemt recorded using HDR10+, you cannot take any advantage of it.
Only cellphones have HDR10+ recording.
