AnonD-909757, 28 Apr 2020The Snapdragon 855 had a + variants, that's why the 865+ variant is expected.
The 845 didn't ... moreNever heard of SD 836.
Are you daydreaming ?
AnonD-754814, 28 Apr 2020That is possible.
Qualcomm also not very regular to do a plus model.
Last time they did it... moreThe Snapdragon 855 had a + variants, that's why the 865+ variant is expected.
The 845 didn't had other variant.
Prior to that, the 835 had the 836 and as you said the 820 had the 821.
So technically outside the 845, all 800 serie had an overclocked variant since the 820 (the 810, didn't had any).
Well AFAIK at least.
I'm not interested in Exynos phones at all. The performance is just lacking in every way.
AhmedSLL, 28 Apr 2020This problem won't be solved by just using ARM architecture, GPU is an issue too, arm mali gpu... moreWell Unless Samsung and AMD have been working from some years don't expect it to happen before 2022.
If they have been working for some years or AMD has some work done then we might see a AMD GPU in Samsung A series phone as soon as this year.
AnonD-909757, 28 Apr 2020Well, there is only one guy who doesn't work for Qualcomm who said there will be no 865+ this ... moreThat is possible.
Qualcomm also not very regular to do a plus model.
Last time they did it with SD 821 (or was there any in between ?).
So, From that logic 90% chance there won't be any SD 865 plus.
If the introduce the 865 plus then this means there will be a plus model every year from now on.
AnonD-754814, 28 Apr 2020Full of misinformation.
This is not expected from you GSMARENA !
First of all, there won'... moreWell, there is only one guy who doesn't work for Qualcomm who said there will be no 865+ this year, for all we know he could have misinterpreted what Qualcomm contact told him or he could be talking about no Meizu phone having no 865+ model planned this year.
There are multiple "sources" talking about 865+ this year, including a Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 appearance on Geekbench with said chip.
Maybe there will be another overclocked 865 but it simply won't called 865+.
We really have no confirmations at this point...
And GSMArena were only speculating on why Samsung were to make a new SoC, though it seem logical it is an answer to the wide criticism about this chip in the global variant, but, who knows !
AnonD-909757, 28 Apr 2020What peoples doesn't realize is that the performance and power consumption are only a part of ... moreMeanwhile your comment screams Qualcomm fan.
Exynos has had many optimizations for years.
The main issue is Samsung making new large core designs the last couple years.
Which clearly will have some struggles in the beginning but would have prospered in the end.
And if their stupid higher ups weren't pushing for benchmark scores over efficiency things could be different.
And if the design team had a little more time to refine the designs we would see pay dirt once the design was refined more.
But since higher ups are morons here we are. They asked for unreasonable results and because their was unavoidable issues due to that in the beginning they threw all the time and money from their team that has been superior for a decade out the window. Just over two generations. And that's the only reason that all that time and money from the last two years was waisted. Though you'd think that they still could have managed the scheduler and efficiency boundaries better. They were a little sloppy, but how much their hands were tied is still unknown.
And it's not as if Qualcomm and apple didn't go through the same thing. When apple switched to large cores they had heat, throttle, and power management issues for a couple years.
When Qualcomm made the s810 it brought new meaning to heat and throttle. And then the next year they still had to go back to a quad core. But since then they have made humongous strides in efficiency.
Which is also part of all this. Samsung made the switch to something that would obviously have a rocky start after Qualcomm started getting really efficient. So it makes the gap look even larger.
But such logical things just don't come naturally to most here.
The only other thing was adreno being stronger in half the generations. And yes it was only just over half. Not all or almost always.
And even now it's not that the Mali doesn't match it. Adreno is a little more efficient but g77 is massive upgrade. Unfortunately Samsung chose to few cores with too high a clock rate. Going 14 to 16 cores at a lower clock rate would make a major difference compared to 11 cores clocked too high.
They have great security and ai optimizations. The above is way more the reasoning behind all this than Qualcomm being above and beyond ahead in all these other optimizations.

Anonymous, 28 Apr 2020Why?? S1 to s8 exynos was overall superior. That's another way of saying for last 3 generations they've been inferior

dude111, 28 Apr 2020By your definition, only Samsung is a chip maker.LOL
geordie81, 28 Apr 2020Apple isnt a chip maker, it designs them, by TSMC I thinkBy your definition, only Samsung is a chip maker.
Will they come up with ARM cortex core ?
Because Note 20 has been seen with a SoC 3+GHz frequency and there won't be a SD 865 plus this year and Mongoose can't reach that much without the possibility of exploding the device.
So, if the rumor of Note 20 running 3+ GHz then the exynos must be running new mongoose core or the ARM cortex core.
Just Give Up Samsung.
Either do straight ARM cores or give up.
The Exynos chipsets have been a real let-down lately.
Full of misinformation.

to be better ... make note20 alot thicker
- 12500 mah batt minimum, user removable preferably
- qualcomm 865+
- 7.5 inch 4k 144hz amoled dolby vision
- 3.5 mm audio jack
- heart rate sensor and any other environment sensor and compass
- use mark levinson adc dac 32 bit 196 khz recording, samsung already bought harman group
- 32gb ram 2tb internal storage
- pure 64 mpx f/1.5 record 4k 960 fps saves both raw and jpeg
- thick body benefitted in better audio reproduction, harman kardon ice optimized for both dolby atmos and dts-x
- factory preinstalled tampered glass
- package included akg wired in-ear studio monitor, 130 db, 3hz to 50 khz freq response
