In a word, Apple. Their 'A' Series SoCs are considerably more powerful than Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8xx counterparts.

There is simply no disputing Apple's prowess in designing microchips from the ARM blueprint, regardless of one's opinion of their befuddled iNotch design team.

If it is nothing more than switching to 6nm then yes it won't make much of a difference. But there are easily a number of other changes that can be made. Of course some of those could have already been made.

Anders, 28 Apr 2020Here's a better idea Sammy. Use a Snapdragon SOC in all your flagships. Even the ones in EuropeWhy?? S1 to s8 exynos was overall superior.

As an ownet of an Exynos Note 10+ they can come up with an Exynos 10,000 for all I care and I am never buying a Samsung phone ever again unless we get the Snapdragon in EU too. We are getting scammed paying the same price for a sh***er phone.

What peoples doesn't realize is that the performance and power consumption are only a part of what make the Snapdragon better than the Exynos.

There are many in-chip instruction and algorithms that Qualcomm are the only one to have, from good AI, to picture oriented, many native support, security and lots of small optimisation making the Snapdragon a better SoC even at equal performance.

I am not fanboying over Qualcomm, if there was another chip maker that had better under the hood systems and algorithms than the Snapdragons, even if their chip were slower, I would prefer them over Snapdragon, because on raw power we actually have ridiculously powerful SoC nowadays, that's all the other things that can make or break a chip.

Though on all mobile chips, the Exynos might be the worst one, mainly considering the overheating issue.

They had to do this last year with the 9825 and held on to the 855 over the 855+ to make it look comparable.. Hopefully dropping their overheating mongoose cores will solve the problem..

Samsung should abandon using the Exynos Chips on Flagships until they migrate to Pure ARM

If they would suddenly switch to Snapdragon chipsets, they should do it for ALL price ranges. I don't think that it's fair to provide a superior chipset just for flagships. People who buy mid-range or low-end handsets are not second-hand customers.

And the Exynos will goes to? Europe!!!! While those fools buy Samsung phones with inferior SoCs (Exynos)... perfect for Samsung, more profits. Worse screen on time / battery management, worse performance and even they lack of FM Radio hardware while Snapdragon phones have the FM Radio enable.

ponk87, 28 Apr 2020I really hope that they will manage to do it since we need more competition in the mobile SoC ... more@Ponk

Blame the people that want 120/144/240Hz screen, 12/16GB ram, 256/512/1000GB storage because the main purpose of their phone is playing games.

Ddr5 costs 25% more than ddr4x.
Ufs3.X costs more than Ufs2.X .
120Hz costs more than 60Hz.

Not counting the fact the curves and cutouts of screen make it more expensive compared to same screen that is flat and no cuts.

I have flagship because everyhing is better compared to midrange. But I do not need 128 or 512GB, not 12GB.
People like me are getting out of options. I have to pay for 256GB that I will never use more than 20. I have to pay for 8/12GB, but never used more than 1,5.

I did a test once. 70 apps open (two games, browsers, native apps, Gapps etc).
Only 2,2GB used.

sm4rt4ss, 28 Apr 2020Agreed. And they could use 1-2 year old flagship chips on the new midrangers, for example A52 ... moreA series 2022 for example will be inferior to S20.
So pointless to put exynos 990 inside A series.
Also it will cost same of an older S series.

Exynos is pretty rarely found on non-galaxy.

You cannot call competition when just 2 out of 5 sell to many brands.
