So you're saying it's better to remove the gloves first in order to use the fingerprint sensors, rather than see a company like Apple to update their face unlock to allow users to unlock their phones even with their masks on? Great thinking!

Will Apple enable the COVID-19 exposure notification API for older iphones ie 10.3.3 (iPhone 5c)?
Apple did update iPhone 5 from 10.3.3 to 10.3.4 and 4s from 9.3.5 to iOS 9.3.6 last year to fix a GPS issue after they EoL'd those phones. So they should have the capability to update older phones.
There are lot of phones used that cant upgrade to IOS 13. In this country (Australia), big shops are still selling refurbished non IOS 13 iphones due to the cost of new ones!
I hope they fix it for much older phones as possible.

i have nokia 6 and it surprising me every time unlocking with mask on face, i dont know how thats work, but it works fine

I got so tired of unlocking my phone with a mask. Will make it much easier when I wear PPE at work.

This is why fingerprint sensor is a better and unbeatable solution, either under the screen or mounted on the side. Face unlock can be a major issue if you are wearing a mask, hence proved. Apple should go notchless with under screen fingerprint sensor or side mounted solution. And waterproofing is a must feature as it will help to sanitize the phone under running water without causing water damage. Companies should focus on 100% waterproofing their phones.
