Xiaomi's Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro and Redmi K30 Pro get GPU updates Comments

So is the international Xiaomi K30 pro which most likely be called Pocophone f2, get the same GPU updates when the App becomes available in Google Play? They better make the app and updates available soon after the phones arrive to Europe because the prices look very high and I don't want to wait for years for each update or have less updates than the Chinese models. If you want my money be fair to me and offer me the same stuff as the Chinese version. Sounds fair?

GPU updates ain't a gimmick, games and emulators will most likely benefit from them and when somebody is buying a phone with a Snapdragon 865 I'm pretty it's for the best gaming experience.

And speaking of gimmicks this k30 pro doesn't have the stupid punch holes which is the main reason I want to buy it since I don't see any other Snapdragon 865 phone without a notch.

About time, really. Nvidia and AMD can do the same for the desktop PC GPU, so I don't see any problem if Qualcomm is doing the same with their GPU.

Only emulators make use of the drivers. Adreno 616 is more than sufficient for playing mobile games.

Also, iPhones do lag / slowdown esp. when the battery health degrades. That's never happened on Android phones.

Anonymous, 30 Apr 2020Why care? Mediatek uses very good GPUs anyway. For decades nobody needed this kind of updates,... moreHaving good GPUs alone doesn't immediately guarantee a smooth overall gaming experience, especially if the drivers aren't up-to-date enough to work with newer APIs.
It's just like using degraded 2010 racing car tires (API) on a brand new 2020 sports car (GPU).
A powerful hardware requires the same great level of software configurations for a fluid and bug-free experience.
No wonder why iPhones from 4 years ago are far smoother and could run many new applications extremely fine whilst still being supported by Apple, while Androids just from 2 years ago are already getting abandoned by their OEM and no longer perform as great as they once were doing when they were brand new.
