They can't track you in the DuckDuckGo browser.
It's when you access DuckDuckGo search engine while in the Xiaomi browser.
So this is a non issue. Just don't use the Xiaomi apps.
Use DuckDuckGo, Firefox or Brave Browser instead of the Xiaomi one

Damn, I bought the Redmi Note 8 a couple of months ago too. Thank god I have notification issues and stopped using it xD. It's not really surprising though. They are definitely collecting data for advertising / to sell, even if you turn off ads in MIUI...
Every.phone.collects.data. Apple is not above the law.
Which hands your data will fall into, is what you can control.
Is the West better than China? What about London being one of the most surveilled cities in the world? What about Snowden? What about HK protest? Everyone has bones in their closet.
Who one knows, but i suspect choosing the next super power, for the foreseeable future, will be in your best interest.
Data privacy is global politics, not for us laymen. However, you can vote with your money by buying into a company based on your beliefs.
Be a conscious consumer, knowledge is power.
All they do, it just depend on what they need from users, some of data for own use and the rest for sale, google, facebook, twitter, double-click, ask, docktodock, amazon and many others, and most of websites you visit, what to do about it, browser developer is paid from advertising companies to collaborate, but we don't pay.
