Anonymous, 02 May 2020You clearly haven't read the article at all if you think disabling mi browser is enoughI didn't, you're right, because i live in 2020, not in the past.. (:
I don't get it how is possible to someone didn't know all that, because i see, people here use Internet, they can open GSMArena site or via app, even here there was a tons of similar or same news for another OEMs in the past..
I mean, people make money of ours data, for years, FB since 2006, not only OEMs, or Google, Microsoft, Apple, but now is a problem, or someone love to much Xiaomi, and they are hurt for this haha?
But, thanks for nostalgia anyway, reading those comments, we are back in time in 2009, again, until a next "article" for another brand, from another country, or Huawei again hehe..
Why don't you ask author of this article, how many data, he lost, just to put a couple of words and one picture (of Redmi Note 8, i guess, because again, i didn't open "the news").. here?
Anonymous, 02 May 2020You clearly haven't read the article at all if you think disabling mi browser is enoughYou can disable whatever any manufacturer or software developer allow you in your phone. That will not change the fact that they'll still be able to track you all the time and gather the data they want from you. All them, despite the country, the brand, etc. All them do the same from Google to Facebook, Xiaomi, Samsung, BBK brands, even Sony. ALL them. They also have backdoors enabled when necessary to tweak your system unless you have the knowledge to modify, customize and shield your system flashing your own modded OS and apps with all doors closed and also not allow updates.
Anonymous, 02 May 2020Maybe they are meaning the browser is revealing data communicated with the duckduckgo website... moreDuckduckgo browser and Duckduckgo search engine page are 2 different things. It's like wanting to say google webpage tracks people and ending up saying google phones track people's data and send it to servers. If you can't make the distinction between a webpage and a browser, you have no business writing articles on any kind of tech or internet related stuff. Maybe a diversity hire or something? Unless it's pure malicious disinformation. Either way, things like this should end up in court.
Anon, 02 May 2020Root all android phones before actually using them.
Boycott gogle play services and use F-dro... moreExactly.
Proper Firewall is a must to stop system apps from connecting to the Internet, so even if they collect certain data, it is localized to the phone.
Also use of reliable modded apps with analytics disabled and unnecessary permessions removed.
Anonymous, 02 May 2020Thats not a propaganda, it was found by cybersecurity experts which know what they are doing u... moreCompanies regularly hire cybersecurity experts to expose spying by other companies where they overlook the spying of the company that hired them in exchange for money.
Then sites like Verge and others spread these selective studies as a way of maintaining good PR to cover up for the several data theft scandals these companies have been caught in.
Notsure, 02 May 2020This is slander and gsmarena should be sued and fined, xiaomi doesn't track anything in duckdu... moreMaybe they are meaning the browser is revealing data communicated with the duckduckgo website pages?
This is slander and gsmarena should be sued and fined, xiaomi doesn't track anything in duckduckgo or any other third party browser, only in their own browser. This is pure fake news, CNN-MSNBC-BBC style.
trilulilucoder, 02 May 2020Not USA only, China does that to. Thats why Samsung (phone maker from Korea), in Samsung flags... moreYou clearly haven't read the article at all if you think disabling mi browser is enough
Can I still use Zoom and Tic Toc on my Xiaomi Red Mi without any problems?
HYPR, 02 May 2020No it doesn't. You and your propaganda. Stick to you iPhone bud. Now there's a company that li... moreI never even had an iPod, iPhone, iPad, Macintosh or any other Apple product.
The aeticle is clearly not talking about the browser alone. It even mentions the music player, for crying out loud.
And this is supposed to be news, eh Forbes? Does that so-called "security researcher" forgot to check that Apple and Google (and insert another massive tech corp here) have been doing the same all this time?
Really? I mean, let's see, Siri, Google Now, Cortana, Alexa, they even recorded our voice AND analised that for "research purposes only"
Its what all Chinese phones do.
Anonymous, 01 May 2020When USA want to control you but they don't want others to do so
Please, everything that uses... moreNot USA only, China does that to. Thats why Samsung (phone maker from Korea), in Samsung flagships using Qualcomm (US brand, China made) SoCs in US and China market in the last 9-10 years, and in the rest of the world, we get Exynos, again and again. Thats why Huawei got 'ban' from US, because they don't want to use for US only, Qualcomm, but they own (like Samsung) Kirin, even in flagships..
About this news.. Just disable Mi browser (use Chrome), and you good to go, they will collect like others to (even HMD Global) known as Nokia, today, got cought, even in a (to)simple Launcher3, skin with 4 options inside.. Got cought sending ours data, not in Finland servers but somwhere in China. Sad reality, if you have wi-fi, mobile data on you're exposed, if you have GSM (2G, 3G, 4G, or 5G) signal, you're exposed, someone know more about you, than youself.. We are in 2020, not in 1980.
Same goes for iOS, yes i know they have under 15% marketshare world wide, but, still, people using iPhones, esp in China and US. They also collect data, if you have installed Youtube, or Gmail, or Chrome (add Alphabet company to Apple). Both of them, on a simgle device.
If you using Windows 10 i guess you see theiy Telemetry policy..
So in the end, this is just one more "news" nothin more nothing less. :)
LilPhone, 02 May 2020All phones collect personal data so don't be stupid. Even Samsung and Apple also steals person... moreeven on very old phones like nokia 3310
when you put sim card on it
your sim card operator you can find where r u right now
so imagine you have a (smart)-phone with unremovable battery.
BINGO. even with turning off it. Ha Ha
Kykyblaze, 02 May 2020All I can say is USA, CHINA and RUSSIA, they are all monitoring us knowingly and unknowingly. And every OEMs, for personal purposes. (:
Horizonz, 02 May 2020Go for apple coz they will track u tooWith tiny 1821mah battery, we are safe, because most of the time the phone will be in one place, (on 1a charger or turned off) haha
Anonymous, 02 May 2020Well said. It comes down to fear and jealously in the end. What has jealousy had to do with this issue? Lol. There's still a huge difference between zero privacy and minimal privacy. Making money off personal data does not have to go to this extent.
I bet your home isn't 100% made of glass or transparent material lul.
All I can say is USA, CHINA and RUSSIA, they are all monitoring us knowingly and unknowingly.
LilPhone, 02 May 2020All phones collect personal data so don't be stupid. Even Samsung and Apple also steals person... moreYes. All of them. But the topic of this article, Xiaomi, collects everything including whatever actions you do on your phone lul.
