What does that has to do with Xiaomi secretly listening in on its customers and lying by saying all its customers has given them consent to do so?
I don't care about this type of news anymore. Everyone spy on you and collect your data. If you don't want it go to a cave. But if its only Xiaomi built in browser just use another one. I use Opera. Its fast and great. Better than Chrome with many ads.

Just saying.
And again, Android, and every OEMs on Android, iOS and every iPhone, Microsoft, and every (Win 7 and up) OEMs and system collect ours data, simce of begining. In a last 10 years you sould learn that. :D
nic, 01 May 2020Wow big news. collecting data is the norm these days. The real problem with what's mentioned h... moreNobody will look your pictures and videos if your not a criminal and police dont have court order for it. Xiaomi have like 20+ Million users all over the world, so now think of them look all the pictures and videos there devices are making. Like 30-40GB of pictures or videos per face and thats like per month in average. It would take few decades to look trough all of that data. It's just stupid
Well.. I'm typing this on a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and I can tell you one thing for sure. From my experience, not just what you browse but Xiaomi and other Chinese brand phones are extensively collecting user data. There has been past reports about OnePlus sending user data to Chinese servers. I have noticed with any Chinese phone I owned, whether it was a Huawei, Vivo, Realme or Xiaomi, there is extensive caching of the data you store in the internal or external memory , even the album art for music files are cached and stored in memory which I guess is also uploaded on backdoor servers. To be honest, this is not only a problem with Chinese brands but more of an industry practice. All the user data is used to analyse and interpret opinions, which could be good or bad. The same data gets published, in many forms, for example, like a survey regarding a particular brand, political analysis, market analysis etc. The data collected through breaching user privacy is studied to know about public opinion and various ways the data obtained is implemented in various ways to present a particular situation, sometimes in favour or disregard of something. I have lost my trust forever.
Anonymous, 01 May 2020I'd actually would still buy a xiaomi phone if it was as good as the redmi note 3 or poco f1.Says the person that hides behind many masks.

Trust a CEO?!
Bahahaha! Who talks like that?!
Alrrriiiiggghty, then. You just reveal who you are working for.
If not, it is soOo easy to seperate a "fool" from its "money!"

That is why I never trusted Chinese brands.

I strongly believe that those clever security researchers from Forbes who spread the news have their own specific intentions or someone asked them to do so.

If apple says something then it's gold and full on trust. It's just funny how dumb Apple users are to think they are not spied on or there data isnt collected and sold to make profit.
Use Google Chrome browser or Microsoft Edge browser, the problem solved.
Other browsers that are not from the US companies are not safe and not security.
I don't believe those clever and smart security researchers from Forbes don't know about this, unless they have other intentions to do so or someone has asked them to do so for some specific purposes.
Anonymous, 01 May 2020Not that we should take anything coming from Forbes seriously, but there really isn't anything... moreThank you. Thank you for being level headed about this.
Scrolled all the way down just so I could reply this.
I hope there are more people who can see the bigger picture, instead of immediately pointing multiple fingers at a single guilty, just because of their country of origin.
Spanky, 01 May 2020Thank you. Your post was very interesting, as well. It is entirely possible for such scenarios... moreIs not to much, great Samsung Electronics doing the same, they take pictures (even with screen off) from front camera, to improve AI, since.. 2018, there is a also "reports" for that, but in the end, who cares, S20 is still great device, even with Exynos (:
Honestly don't care. Im not gonna act like a boomer and this "meh, my info isnt precious so i dont give a damn", because that's untrue.
But i am still going to buy a Mi9T, simply because every company that handles Tech in the slightest does this. There isn't really a practical way to dodge it...
People act this concerned, but I've never seen as many people commenting on "Google/Apple/American/Euro brand spies one people!" type of articles. This coming from a proud EU citizen.
Let's stop being h y p o c r i t e s and think twice before criticizing all brands except the one you like most and, more importantly, saying mean things to one another. After all, if we don't care for eachother, no one will, not even your precious favourite brand (seriously, they just want the slim papers in your wallet).

https://youtu.be/... moreSo, your opinion(s) are based on a Youtube videos? Don't get me wrong i didn't open link, because i don't care, but, that's a just a lame (it's a my opinion). You live in a imagine world. Tell me.. What OEM, you will like to see with similar or worse "report claims this, that", do you have any wishes? If you wanna, tell me brand name you're using right now, and that will be enough..
Also, data.. Did you know that "Google" earns every 2 seconds about 1.8B euros, just because of those ads? And, how they can you send an Ad from your country? How can they know what are you into? (Something about last comm from you scratching, something). I get it you don't like Xiaomi that ok, but did you read EULA on your phone to the end every time you get a new device? Why not..
Can't belive :(
