                  RCS will never go anywhere.
                  1. Carriers, both the sender and receiver, must support it, and it’s not in their interest to do so.
                  2. Sender and receiver’s devices must support it. With the way Android is fragmented, this is highly unlikely.
                  3. Both parties must use Google’s own SMS app. Majority of OEMs have their own SMS app (ie. Samsung, Oppo, etc), and most people won’t intentionally replace their default SMS app.
                  4. Knowing Google, they would probably ignore it by next year. Look at how many services they abandoned.
                  5. It leaves out iPhone users. Considering the multi platform alternatives like WhatsApp, Facebook messenger, etc that people already know and use, who would bother with RCS and its complexities?

Anonymous, 02 May 2020Please explain?...,I used to get Google notification when I used Mate 20 Pro that Messages app support RCS and afternoon enabling, installing the App in settings to receive RCS(they call it as Chat feature in the settings) I started doing RCS for few days, again the Chat feature became unavailable due to server issues(unable to connect to the server) or your network doesn’t support this feature or Google will inform once the update finishes....I get any of these random messages and I totally forgot it after I moved my both Android (Note 9 & Mate 20 Pro) to iPhone XS ‘Max 512 GB & iPhone 11Pro Max 512 GB!

What's the point? The only country that needs RCS is the US. Everyone else uses Whatsapp or other messaging apps these days.

It never works in my region though it says RCS, 90% time either servers don’t work, nor OS won’t support or carrier won’t allow! What a sorry state!

Gonna sound like a neandathal, but not really sure I need RCS. Sadly, most of my chats are across WhatsApp, if I need pics. It has encryption, unlike Google's offering. Most of my friends and family are accustomed to WhatsApp and Snapchat. Kinda sick of all the messaging apps. Zoom, Duo, Teams, WhatsApp, SMS, Snapchat. That latter one is shocking. What advantage does RCS have?
