Ppl have already unlocked 120hz@QHD+ on S20 via third party app.
It's got terrible battery life though in that mode.

Anonymous, 07 May 2020OK maybe you won't be able to install custom ROM... You will get 2 years official security up... moreCustom ROM support is worse for Mediatek compared to Snapdragon.
But they also don't release KERNELS. Or have they changed in that department?

This also affects developer community support and features like GCAM.

MagicMonkeyBoy, 07 May 2020Keep your eyes on mediatek... 1000+ This is the next thing to snapdragon. Isnt this gre... moreWhy would you even mention A13 when it does not matter on android market anyways. It does it's own thing with Apple only so who cares how powerful or how not it is in the android market wehre it's Snapdragon , Mediatek , Kirin and exynos. Want to compare something then only these 4 as they are built for android and what ever hardware. A13 is made for only one software with it's only specific specs hardware where no other have any access so it's is own thing and cant be compared with anything.

Spanky, 07 May 2020Two questions: 1. When can we expect a Dimensity 800+? 2. Why not LPDDR5?1. 3Q of this year, apparently vivo is working on a phone with it.
2. Price and availability.

Dimensity 1000 and 1000+ are flagship proccesors from mediatek that are very powerful in performance. Maybe a tiny bit slower than qualcomm, but it's made up from the lower cost.

Snapdragon cost too much so good news this will make snapdragon fall price. Everything is better with a competitor side by side for us customer.

dbjungle, 07 May 2020I think the 765 is better for consumers that want to install custom roms.OK maybe you won't be able to install custom ROM...
You will get 2 years official security updates...
As it is high end and as you get 1 major update even on entry level when brand is serious (exemple Redmi 6A, released with Oreo/MiUI9, now with Pie/MiUI11), or even 2 on entry level when it's Nokia, you can expect 1 or 2 major updates.

In...maybe 5 years, how many apps won't work on your phone...nearly none...

Now get your SD765 or even your SD865. Without any support for AV1 Codec...
I think in 2 years, some streaming qualities on Netflix/Amazon/Disney/Apple/youtube/Stadia will not work anymore on Snapdragon 765/865...
And will be OK on D1000...

True obsolescence is on Snapdragon not on D1000...

+ I trust in indian developers...and am ashamed by the one from my continent.

Iqoo Neo 3 (with IPS) has attracted lots of defectors from Honor 30 Series (with AMOLED) because those defectors want a flagship with an IPS screen, and they are not happy that Honor 30 Series offers AMOLED only. If you replace SD865 with D1000+, those defectors would not consider Iqoo Neo 3 as a flagship any more.
