I actually never heard of that LCD you are refering to, how much does something like that cost in lets say TV?
Anonymous, 11 May 2020R5G? Is this Japan only?
Where is Sharp smartphones in EU, or USA, or Korea?
Maybe, that's ... moreOled most times will crush blacks because it cant represent Gray's
It is not FACTUAL that OLED has better contrast, brightness or colour reproduction inherently
It is CIRCUMSTANTIAL....
Brightness ,contrast, color reproduction Vs what version of LCD???
Dual cell LCD? Blue LCD, with the quantum dots at the front layer of the screen, LCD with microled backlighting ????
In the TV space OLED can barely pass 1000nits sustainably
And LCD is on track for 3000 nits and higher without any heating concerns like OLED worries about
AnonD-926702, 11 May 2020you are wrong on so many levels, even as someone who loves me some good high quality lcds I ca... moreOled does not inherently have better color reproduction, contrast or battery savings
For battery savings explain to me how Pentile oled has about 30% less subpixels and still drains energy at full resolution?????
What you are doing is taking SMARTPHONE display representation to represent all LCD
Have you ever heard of dual cell LCD???
Look at this:
https://youtu.be/Q7lHyijQklE
That's 2 million dimming zones that's essentially pixel level light control.. sounds familiar? Yes oled is pixel level light control , equivalent contrast to the human eye and color reproduction
This doesn't even scratch the surface as they are using regular sized bulbs imagine if they used miniled or microled bulbs as the backlight

Maybe, that's why, there is no review(s), or they don't have more than 1-2 models per year, and rhise are Japan only.. Just saying..
Anyway, Super Amoled have better colors, deep blacks, and quality Super Amoled (even on midrange devices), can last 2 years, before first sighn of burn in... If you think to use one smartphone, next 5 years, well i guess in that case IPS, or TFT (Samsung IPS), screen is better option, you will use to lower contrast brightness, and greyish colors.. :D

These same reviewer uses these OLED phones for 1 weeks tops before its on to the next one
They don't have to have the phone long enough to encounter burn in or any issues they just ask for another review sample
These same reviewers only review lower quality LCD with barely 400nits
Where is the reviews for high quality LCD like the sharp aquos R5g? 1000nits of brightness IGZO LCD
Anonymous, 11 May 2020Call Samsung and advice them to not change to micro-led technology then. Those reviewers yo... moreyes because micro-led is literally the best of both lcd and oled, it will be the best by far when it is available but as of right now it is way to expensive, as soon as they figure out to produce it for lower cost it will be the first choice for flagship phones and TVs
Anonymous, 11 May 2020What premium? Displays with leds that degrades and lose color intensity along its life? Even S... moreyou are wrong on so many levels, even as someone who loves me some good high quality lcds I can say that. oleds do have better colour reproduction, much better contrast ratio, better battery saving, better sunlight visability just to name a few things oled does better, while you are right that oleds tend to degrade over time, we are talking about years of dayly usage not some months i believe the top LG Oled TVs can last up to more than 10 years depending on your usage and who owns a phone for more than max. 3 years when flagships get thrown at you for a bargain price one year after release. I loved the LCD on my mate 20 and xperia xz premium but they cant compete against my samsung s20+ or even against the oneplus 7 pro.
This is ridiculous. Racing edition. Zoom edition, Pro, Pro Max, S, Lite, Youth, Note, T, a, e, i, se and so on. Almost 10 of phones are the same with or without naming scheme. Its just ridiculous.
I wish we got a mi note 10 racing edition
notafanboy, 11 May 2020Not very smart are we? Everything evolves. Get it? OLED is currently the best thing out there.... moreYou're underestimating the time companies purposely delay technology to clean up stock while setting up new production lines.
Affordable is yes. How much they want to charge you for a new technology is another story. Money, money, a lot ...
I am sure that buy a flagship with AMOLED screen and replace the screen with the new micro-led compatible one from an electronic component supplier will save you at least 350 euros for a equal specifications phone. I know maybe a lot fo people can't do that by itself and make it work. But it is possible so the affordable word... is relative!!! What is affordable in the market? What manufacturers decide? Affordable for who? They or you? They ask you whatever they want even if the technology is a lot cheaper. If you pay for the overpriced product is another history...
Yep, "affordable", what a beautiful word...
6ix, 11 May 2020Hallelujah I can live with lcd at this price point Not only with LCD, but also with dual hole punch..
282$ will be in China with China ROM.. When (or if) this phone goes official in EU, global version, will be 300+ euros. And for 300+ euros, it's the same phone, LCD, 2 ugly holes (it looks ugly on last year Samsung S10 flagships), same goes for this one..
Maybe, if you don't need 5G network (users in UK seems that they don't with 77 devasted towers, already..), but still Xiaomi is a must, midrange Xiaomi.. Maybe will be better Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite Zoom, just because there is no holes, on the other hand it have Super Amoled, with good colors.
notafanboy, 11 May 2020So I guess I'm a fool, just like most display reviewers who seem to agree on the fact that OLE... moreOLED is definitely superior, but not by much. OLED has more issues as well like pixel degradation, image retention, low sharpness at same resolution than IPS and whites.
I don't like the whites on OLED display. It has some sort of either red, yellow or blue tinge. OLED's whites are nowhere near the level of IPS.
OLED displays sharpness is also lower than IPS at same resolution due to the pixel arrangement I believe. RGBG on OLED vs RGBRGB on IPS.
Since I don't like whites of OLED, I prefer IPS over OLED. So in the end OLED is superior due to its saturated color, battery saving feature and blacks. But IPS can also be used for flagships and not just on mid range phones.

Only fools keep buying premium AMOLEDs or OLEDs today.
Inb4 people complain about the display. I for one am not surprised this has IPS LCD. All mid-range phones should have inferior technology. Want premium display? Buy a flagship.
Question: does SD 768G support 4K60FPS recording?
Should be lower priced at usd 250
