It is made to give as close as possible to all display front while keeping useful sensors and justifying the camera presence with 3D facial authentification sensors and avoiding bezel.
It is also about pushing the status bar out of the rest of the display, if you look at the iPhone 8 and the iPhone X on any non-fulldisplay app (which hide the status bar and access the space around the notch), lets take for example here this schematic :

You clearly see that they moved the notification bar outside the rest of the display, knowing the display area is already taller than its predecessor (iPhone 8 (Plus) vs iPhone X), if we kept the idea of making content on a certain display ratio, the notch should have never bothered any users as it shouldn't interfere with any content...
Apple made two mistakes :
1, the notch impeding the status bar, they should have allow it to be displayed on two lines as there is more than enough space for that, it would have allowed to put as much status icons as on the iPhone 8.
2, they lets apps have access to this area, while having an "ambiance" effect where only things like the same colors as the game give the illusion of more lateral area (like the TVs with ambiant light) would be good, letting more than that access the display around the notch give the illusion that the notch is a nuisance, while on iOS it isn't, this part should only have the basic back color of the opened app, and for any media with changing color/no main color, having it either black or with the darkest color around that edge to give ambiance without disturbance.
But the best solution would clearly have to simply lets this area dark/user selected color and to always show the status icons, including in landscape mode where they would rotate and the text (carrier name) would be written top down, with option to hide/dim it on fulldisplay contents.
That would have been a better implementation of the Notch, and on previous phones, it may had an interest, but on modern Android Smartphone it is more a total nuisance than anything else.
And when we analyse it that way, we can understand why it make sense and why Apple or if they still existed, Microsoft phones would make sense having a notch because of their non notification, status icons only top bar, and why the notch implementation, even if inspired by older design, is clearly way more thought than them and have more justifications behind it.
I like the idea behind the LG V serie, I sort of like the Essential PH-1 idea of minimalist and least affecting possible notch, I also like a little the idea behind the Huawei notch with 3D facial recognition as it is small and useful, I also accept the idea behind the Meizu 17 where the punch hole is part of the battery indicator giving it some sort of a justification to exist, but all other modern Smartphone notch and punch hole are totally useless and an horrible idea...

It was the first notch phone ever recorded with a round look.. Doesn't matter how much Apple increase the shape they aren't who used notch at first.. Who cares about shape when the thing is already used before the first iPhone was introduced..

There is nothing interesting here! iPhone 11 is 6.1 inches vs iPhone 12 supposed to be 5.4 inches! Hence they dropped the price and most likely the iPhone 12 Max(or. Plus) will be in the unaffordable territory while lesser we talk about Pro & Pro Max, from pricing point of view is better for Apple!!
With COVID-19 impact, no one outside USA excited about super expensive mobiles!

I know it's overpriced but ima... moreThat's more about having the material that the most awesome machine have, like the SR-71, A12 and YF-12 are made off, or get engine blades, one of the most amazing metal, polished it have a mirror effect and brushed it have a beautiful metallic effect.
But more importantly, it is damn hard, you can't just break a Titanium back by accidentally dropping your phone, or they made it µm thin or you dropped it from an airplane...
I'd pay an extra 50¤ to have a Titanium Smartphone over a regular or glass one...
Vertu In isn't my style, I'd prefer Titanium.

Price wise apple seems to be doing a really great job, design side, this phone managed to be even more horrible than the previous model. Anyway if the resolution on the smallest one is at least Full HD, I can give it a try to Apple for the first time. I'm just tired of these phones going 6.7".

It sounds pretty good except there's no expandable storage and the 512gb is 1400$ that's the same price as the base S20 ultra with expandable storage up to 1tb and considering the note 20+ would probably be cheaper than the S20 ultra by 100$ I think I'll get the note or fold 2

Do not have illusion new iphones will be same proce or cheaper than 11 series.
All components apget more expensive.
All the 5G modem and licensing to Qualcomm.
Iphone " 12 Max" replaces 11. With base 128GB.
Of course it will cost more than 128GB iphone 11.
Dont expect it any less than $800.

What about the back in Titanium ? :D
What price of Titanium isn't that high, it wouldn't make the phone much more expensive (20 bucks ?) but ultra strong and have a beautiful shining and reflective finish that is almost as good as Glass :D
