Good move by Apple. The Indian Government is already planning on giving several relaxations to all those companies who are trying to shift their manufacturing bases outside China. Made in India products are already better in Quality than Made in China Products. OnePlus, Samsung, Xiaomi etc already manufacturer Smartphones and other gadgets in India. Time for Apple to follow suit

Fekandra Godi, 12 May 2020due to massive redtape, over regulations and insane taxes, it's the highest in the world at 69%Raw material import 20% Tax + OEMS spareparts 18% Tax + Pre retail luxury tax 12% Tax+ GST 18%.

All taxes must be files even before the sales of the Unit has been done, so in essence 68% Tax for the fax rich party workers and propaganda units even before the the handset has been sold.

I haven't bought an Iphone since Apple moved manufacturing to China.

The ethics of most Chinese companies is non-existent. Add the f-ed up Chinese Communist Party and the Government law that forces companies to act as an arm of the government as another black mark against these companies.

                            Good move for Apple.

I hope more companies follow form by moving from China to India, S. Korea and Taiwan.

Samsung already has world's biggest phone manufacturing plant in India. Apple is already making phones like XR in India. Even Chinese brands like Xiaomi assemble their phones in India.

Who cares about total GDP? It's GDP per capita that counts. Look at the quality of living in Sweden compared to India.

Wow so many negative users in gsmarena. I just found that out in comments. They are satisfied with made in china quality which is basically the worst in the world but they hate when apple decides to make in India. These ignorants don’t even know that the softwares they used in day to day life is most probably outsourced from India, the medicine they take is most probably synthesised in India. Don’t be jealous guys, India is one of the very few countries with space, Nano biomedical and Nuclear technology. Indonesia, vietnam etc hasn’t even scratched those waters. Second best country in the world for IT. Actually I have seen you guys, you people without any kind of literacy, those without the pocket to be able to afford iphones, complain the most.
