Have you ever wondered why a new honor/ Huawei device don't get a lower score than older models, honor v30 pro can't even compare with Huawei p30 pro, but still get a higher score than mate 30 pro, relased later, you should get it now, if you wise enough, then they brought Mate 30 5g, to get an higher score so it doesn't gets shadow by their sub brand, honor v30

You guys are forgetting it's dxomark they gave S10 plus 113 score past year, while giving mi 9 n OnePlus 7p 114, it's obvious to a blind man which is better the former, even v30 pro with 122, is way below S10 quality yet it's given 122, iPhone 11 pro max and v30 pro which cam is better the iPhone of course but still ranked below the honor device

The image quality suffers more on the latter, however.

If cropped, 3x digital zoom distortion angle will never be the same as an actual 3x telephoto zoom lens. Theres a reason why focal length are different, and actual telephoto will always be better. Professionals will spot it right away.

Not surprise. S20+ lower scores likely because of that fake telephoto 1.06x zoom, digitally cropped from 64mp sensor.
If one dont care about any zooming, both its main & ultra wide sensor still flagship grade on today standard.

Google designs, Foxconn builds. I thought Google bought a big chunk of HTC company, mainly their designers in smartphones. I believe they all work in the Pixel department now. Though it feels like it was a bad investment, since Google devices have been getting less competitive, leading all the way back to the Nexus 5. Not sure what's really happening at HTC. Feels like the owners took the money and ran.

Too bad S20 series design isn't the same from S20 to S20+ to the Ultra. Too much hype on the Ultra but it didn't live up to expectations. The S20+ had to chance to top dxomark but Samsung wanted people to spend more money on the Ultra to keep profits high.

vrvly, 12 May 2020Soon wont be in top ten, p40pro+ incoming...That will take another month or 2 until since the phone will be released in June internationally. Plus, Huawei might want to buy some time before sending them a unit to improve the camera software and earn extra points outside the zoom section, which could further extend the publish date.

I looked through some samples on their websites and it seems that after a bunch of updates Ultra does indeed have a better main camera than Plus now (except for AF performance of course). Plus definitely could've done a better job with indoor and low light photography as it's pretty noisy given the sensor size and night time photos look all right at best. Their hardware is perfectly capable, but good software processing is what Samsung's flagship phones need the most. Hopefully the situation will improve next year.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, isn't there a difference between an optically zoomed setup and a digitally zoomed setup regarding the photo's appearance? Optically zoomed cameras should produce better subject separation while focusing. Wheres on the digital zoom, isn't it more like just magnifying on the screen?
So, I believe there should be a difference between S20 series and their optically zoomed counterparts. Because basically switching from 26mm to 29mm is not that much of a difference.
