These comments are like music from heaven to me. I thought I was the only one who was a fan of smaller screens (4.7 to 5.5 inch) but I was wrong. I am not gonna buy a new phone until these messed up manufacturers make some compact shits.
Big and heavy phone, may with MediaTek chipset...
Waiting for beauty, handy and powerfull Mid-range phone of xiaomi.
Just like what the other guy said, if they're gonna continue making 6.6 inch phone why not also make it a 1080p resu.
Anonymous, 13 May 2020I agree, 5.5, up to 6" in 20:9 aspect ratio, is optimal, we get a plenty screen, and still tho... moreHopefully so and much more slimmer unlike the 7a(9.55m THICK) Haha

no more phones in Tablet sizeI agree, 5.5, up to 6" in 20:9 aspect ratio, is optimal, we get a plenty screen, and still those phones can be used wit one hand in any situation, because they nit wide more than 72mm.
Even, one of those upcoming iPhones for this year, will be 5.4" in a size of iPhone SE 2020 (or iPhone 8, 7, 6s, 6).. Because of differente aspect ratio.
But, it seems, Xiaomi, Redmi 9 will be big phone.. Maybe Redmi 9a, will be smaller (like it was a case with Redmi 7, 6.26", >> Redmi 7a 5.5")
Like others on this thread, I rue the passing of the mobile phone. Phones that allowed us to be mobile by being compact, light, and operable with one hand. Phones today are miniature televisions. 6.67 inches is the new normal when just a couple of years ago, it was 6.2 to 6.4. And before that 5.8. Previously only rugged phones would weigh 200gms. Now standard phones weigh 220gms. Very soon 7.3 will be the new normal with a 32:9 screen ratio weighing 400gms. And by the end of the decade we will need a briefcase to carry our phones just like the first ever Motorola.
Redmi, 12 May 2020Redmi 2, 4.7" (16:9)

6000mah battery for Redmi 9a confirmed by fcc docs
6.6"? Then the rumor is probably true that Redmi 9 will sports 1080p resolution instead of the usual 720p of Redmi line up. Because there never was a 720p screen with 6.6" size in production ever.

Redmi 9, 6.6" (19:9, or like Note 9 series, 20:9 ratio)?..
I'm still not so sure about all the displays being as big as possible. When the bezelless design started, I was looking forward to compact phones with bigger screens. But they just keep getting bigger, and only Apple (and Pixel) seem to still release smaller smartphones.
