I would be surprised if this actually performs better than the Exynos 990. It would be similar to how Samsung's Image Sensors have better scoring cameras on other camera manufacturer's smartphones.

Mayne Samsung needs some sort of whip for the imaging and SoC departments.

      Exynos 980 has cortex A77?
So does the Exynos 990 have cortex A76 or A77?

The reason why Exynos is hot and uses too much power is because of those big M cores use too much power to ramp up the speed. You can see it on single threaded test how fast is that big cores but they are not as efficient as Snapdragon's big cores.

Exynos 980 uses 2 regular A77 cores at 2.2 GHz with 8 nm fabrication process so I guess it wouldn't be as hot as other Exynos I hope.

Exynos and Mediatek are implementing A77 cores for their midrange while Qualcomm and Kirin are still stuck at A76, granted the Kirin packs much more serious power. The difference in real-life performance is hardly noticeable but at least we know who's cutting corners.

IpsDisplay, 13 May 2020 You can't be serious... Their best exynos 990 can't even outperform 2019 midrange Med... moreYeah, Exynos is not reliable as of late. Their peak performance or benchmark performance might seem competitive, but real-time results are depressing. Throttling and battery drain are rampant on them.

I remember the years when Exynos used to overpower the Snapdragon. The Exynos team just needs to get their rhythm back. Until then, they're better left avoided.
