I don't know where did you get your results.

Would be great if they actually get the next one right, if the leaked amd gpu gfxbench scores are at around 4-5 watts power.
Shanti Dope, 16 May 2020Maybe it is, and you're probably right with the better sales point.
I still want to see the l... moreThe hate against MediaTek would vanish if kernel sources and software patches were available. XDA wrote a piece about fake security patches (claiming you've patched up to, say, the May 1st 2019 level, but your patch lacks fixes for security flaws listed in that level). They already got cheap hardware with decent performance. But I guess they also don't know how to make a good premium SoC, which is the key to have a good public image among phone buyers (and not their direct customers). Remember the deca-core X20 and X30? Probably not. They even sold it in what could be the first proper Android "gaming phone" years before anyone else: https://www.gsmarena.com/the_acer_predator_6_and_predator_8_are_new_beastly_devices_aimed_at_gamers-news-13807.php
Yet, that was completely ignored. Anyway, all of this to say that it's going to take more than a GPU to improve MT's future. Only if people trust MT to deliver premium performance as a SoC (not just a CPU+GPU) will MT SoCs be used in premium hardware
AnonD-754814, 15 May 2020Then why does he Kirin SoC throttles ? It's the GPU that's power hungry and produces heat an... moreActually, the CPU of the Exynos 990 processor does throttle too.. this could be as a result of that stupid MONGOOSE CORES they put in there, or software. I don't really know
Those Dimensity SoCs look impressive in spec sheets, benchmarked well, and most important of all, they received good first-hand feedback from the engineers who actually design smartphones using those SoCs. Except for the ISP of those chips, the engineers' feedback on various aspects of Dimensity series is very positive, giving the real credit to the MediaTek designers behind these SoCs. I will give more weight to these engineers' feedback than some online reviews.
Here comes the ultimate test, the real world user experience of average consumers. Put these smartphones into the hands of millions of users, and we will know the result. If these SoCs deliver 90% of the spec sheet, I expect an avalanche of 5G smartphones based on Dimensity chips to come in the coming months. I would not be surprised if Dimensity SoCs outsell Snapdragon SoCs in the 5G smartphone segment. (The initial engineers' feedback favors Dimensity's 5G solution over that of Snapdragon's.)
Anonymous, 16 May 2020None lol. Except for the popular onesSo we can expect kernel sources to be released for devices like Redmi Note 10?
Since it will be a popular phone.

AnonD-558092, 16 May 2020Well, it's hard to say since you only talk about "a" Kirin SoC instead of mentioning a particu... moreI don't have much info about the latest Kirin 990.
I was talking about all Kirin SoC.
For example,
The Kirin 980's GPU throttles 55% compared to 46 percent of Exynos 9820.
https://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s10-snapdragon-855-vs-exynos-9820-967562/
So, as the Kirin 990 is built on older design it's shouldn't be an improvement.
Kirin has done one thing good. They made the 5G modem built-in which should make it more energy efficient(in networking) than SD and Exynos which have external modem.
Also the CPU in Exynos 990 SoC doesn't throttle. It's the GPU that throttles.
conseutive geekbench/Antutu run show that the CPU throttles almost none, but GPU throttles big time.
Kkr, 16 May 2020Check today's article. They are trying to ban indirectly whoever using American companies tech... moreBut China does have their own Fabrication firm who just made their first 14nm KIRIN 710A processor to move to indigenous manufacturing.
Only 14nm but impressive non the less, their next chip is 7nm and SMIC have completely skipped 10nm and they don't even use Dutch ASML machine's, rather they use their own.
It a great thing to move completely inhouse.
Antutu around 300,000-310,000?
Anonymous, 15 May 2020What is the current status of Mediatek releasing kernel sources? None lol. Except for the popular ones
MediaTek improved. It will give you updates and it won't slow down so soon. But as long as Snapdragon is better many people will go for Snapdragon. Especially if they buy flagship phones. So MediaTek have to work harder if not they will lose.
Anonymous, 15 May 2020That wouldn't make sense. MediaTek is Taiwanese, no connection to the CCP.Check today's article. They are trying to ban indirectly whoever using American companies technology and still supplying chips to huawei. TSMC in discussion with their leagal team to sort out the issue.
Redmi will bring it with compact size or not ????
maybe something like Mi A3 size 153.5mm
AnonD-754814, 15 May 2020My bad. I didn't make myself clear.
Why does the kirin SoC throttles more than the Exynos ?Well because Kirin has higher GPY clocks. For example, Kirin 980 has Mali G76 MP 10 720Mhz compared to Mali G76 MP 12 600Mhz compared to Exynos 9820.
Max performance would be almost same but higher clocks makes AP more easy to overheat, wich eventually cause throtthles.
AnonD-558092, 15 May 2020Sammy has decided to quit making custom cores. Using only standard cores, they'd be the same a... moreMaybe it is, and you're probably right with the better sales point.
I still want to see the light of day that this one happens though, to finally put an end to hate on MediaTek chipsets, where people would think of a powerhouse SoC manufacturer whenever their name is mentioned.
Well, I just wish that Samsung's first SoC with AMD GPU would already be built on 5nm node to truly showcase the strength of those monstrous graphics hardware. I also wish that the 5G modem would be built-in to the system like on the MediaTek 5G chips instead of being a separate one to increase prices.
LOL, get ready for a phone without GPS folks! :D :D
In 2020, you'll have a rather unique experience without GPS capabilities in your new phone, so enjoy!
Anonymous, 15 May 2020That wouldn't make sense. MediaTek is Taiwanese, no connection to the CCP.Lol. Connection with the CCP would actually be negative if they're Taiwanese.
