Anonymous, 17 May 2020Agreed. This is a purposeless device, a two screen foldable mini tablet you can make calls ... moreAgree with you fully here.

Also, there is no reason at all for microsoft to create a "typical" phone, be it a flagship/mid-range etc. If they did a new run at a windows mobile OS it would be a completey different story.

Why?
Why it's an Android device from Microsoft corporation?
It would have been the best if they had brought it with their on Windows 10 OS. Like what they have done with their surface go lineup.

Anonymous, 16 May 2020Nah, that would be too low resolution. This is amoled, so 320ppi is roughly equal to 206ppi in... moreIs that so, I really just found this out if AMOLED reduces the ppi. And by a weird margin at 37,57%. Can you elaborate on how is this possible with AMOLED screens?

I think this device will be a failure like Microsoft's Kin series.

geek-a-contra, 17 May 2020for all whiners and trolls here: care to mention when and were did ms claim this device to be ... moreAgreed.

This is a purposeless device, a two screen foldable mini tablet you can make calls on, will not be practical as a phone and you can't have a single big screen when is open. Maybe work with two apps comfortably.

So if it's not practical as a phone and I wouldn't carry this thing and a phone as well frankly.

Apple products are clearly made for a purpose and are made to excel at that purpose I don't see any of that in this thing. Hopefully they will sell it relatively cheap at least so that many will give it a shot.

I find it very odd that this device is 9.6 mm when closed, yet it still can't fit at least a 4500 MaH battery inside(assuming that the extra screens and back aluminum adds on to the thickness).

joe nodden, 17 May 2020Price hike? This article doesn't mention any pricing. Sorry, I was talking about other phones like xiaomi, samsung, etc. The reason I was talking about qualcomm was because if it didn't force microsoft to buy that mandatory x55 modem, then the surface duo would definetly come with an 865 chipset.

This isn't entirely qualcomm's fault: Microsoft needed to anticipate any new space required.

The concept of Microsoft Surface Duo is good. However, lacking of NFC, 5G netwok and also multiple camera lens will be hard to attract buyer in the current 2020/2021 era.

Maybe the 865 isn't the only culprit, but it's at least one of them(all those 5G antennas and that modem are really expensive).

Aha. Another money-scamming scheme from qualcomm. Whether it's the higher price to being forced to use last year's SoC, more and more companies are suffering from it.

A long list of things that seem not the best spec, most notably the "small" battery - but remember it's only 4.8 mm thick !
