It's ok to want competition but not anti consumer companies like Mediatek.

Anonymous, 16 May 2020gaming phone not really took of yet if Samsung new gpu with amd does with more software suppo... morePartnership with AMD doesn't guarantee anything. We still haven't had an Exynos SoC with the new GPU. Besides, the CPU is still manufactured on old architecture. Exynos 990 can't even touch A12 or SD855 in terms of CPU & GPU power and efficiency. A gaming test (PUBGM) vs. Redmi Note 8 Pro's MTK Helio G90T and S20+ Exynos indicated that the S20+ has frame drops while the Redmi didn't. Although both phones got warm.

The prospect of healthy competition is far more important than short sighted custom ROMs

Everyone gains from competition only a niche benefits from custom ROMs

The average consumer don't even care about that they just want a phone to work

But even SD845 phones are powerful enough. Hence, phones like the Pocophone F1 is extremely popular, despite low-end build quality (but excellent performance across the board).

Those benchmark numbers are pretty impressive. It slots in between Snapdragon 768G and 765G. This finally feels like a true upgrade since the Redmi Note 3.

MagicMonkeyBoy, 16 May 2020This is clearly the most powerful Note series smartphone from Redmi /(xiaomi). That is incredi... moreTried iPhone 11 with A13 and it actually runs at HDR Extreme without any frame drops (but phone does get warm).

It's clear you keep trolling Apple. While of course I own both an Android (S10) and iPhone.

MTK chips barely allow rooting or the software can get bricked. Mali GPU is also less suitable for gaming. The phone (in question, is the Redmi Note 8 Pro) gets very warm and battery consumption is insane, according to a friend who uses the mentioned phone.

Indian k*ds these days play PUBG Mobile. Gaming community has gone over the top. Enjoy those cheaters. It's almost like Garena's FreeFire Battlegrounds now, but with better graphics and gameplay.

Comparing gaming phone vs. regular phone is what you keep doing and it's rubbish. Better buy a gaming laptop next time.

Unfortunately mediate don't release kernel sources, so you get stuck in your Android version without custom roms with new android versions.
In my opinion, is better buy one phone with SD 855.

Snapdragon 855 was last year's flagship phone. If Redmi releases a budget phone with performance just slightly under it, that would be incredible, and with 5G compatibility as well. The Redmi Note 10 should just be half a year away.
