The mediatek chipset is not the problem. The performance of the phone is actually really, really good. But I hate this phone so much. It's garbage. It's a chinese rom and it's infested with ads and apps you can't get rid of. There's no global rom available and no custom roms. It won't even let you put a custom launcher or keyboard on it. You can but it keeps reverting back. The user experience is absolutely dreadful. I get so frustrated with it sometimes I feel like launching it into orbit. I paid 300. If someone offered me 100 euros, I'd take their hand with the cash I think. Just don't go near it. It's awful. Excellent hardware let down by absolute garbage software.

Budget mediatek would be the helio series. Its on a cheap phone doesnt mean its budget. Would you also call sd865 budget because its on a phone just 30$ more than this one? That cpu performance is a lot better than sd845 btw.

The gpu on the 1000l was worse performing than sd845, but also more efficient than 855. I dont think it will come close to sd865 gpu.

I don't, as I know how Xiaomi can live with such a tiny profit margin. What's so hard in giving 1 week experience on what you do with your phone so that they can give you better targeting ads (though yeah, I might only tap 1 out of 1000)?

As for MTK. They're doing fine in low and mid range section. They need to work on their flagship SoCs if they intend to compete with the best. Currently they're quite a bit behind in that realm.

This is literally a $350 phone, and for that price you get slightly slower SoC compared to neo3, nothing else. They pretty much have same ISP, same display, etc.
We need some more competition in the smartphone space.

The resellers are taking their cut, and AliExpress is taking their cut, and then there may be taxes that are added. Vivo probably dosent project enough sales to create an actual global version and get all the certifications associated with that, along with the extra software version they would have to develop.
