In the case of vivo's phones, it's hardware you're paying. Most people can live with the software and given Android 10 is released on 2020 devices, it's less of a problem nowadays.

after buying the iQoo Neo 3...It is an instant regret. Good price, but the OS is quite locked down not allowing you to customize a lot of things. I am ending up having a phone with a bunch of garbage Vivo apps

And if this phone has a LCD display, of course it's a budget, they cut corners everywhere, not just the SoC, and you think it could come close to a flagship price?
