pda96, 22 May 2020The world will be just fine without Huawei. If your world is North America only, then yes it will be fine.
Cant wait to see a day when Chinese phone manufacturers withdraw from US market and US customers only have to buy phones with $1000 and above prices from Apple and Google
Abhi-Darth-Plagueis, 22 May 2020I highly doubt "in the long runz when Huawei will be independent from all things American made... moreIt's easy. It's just expensive. With finding a suitable terrain for the factory, securing deals, labor laws and recruiting skilled engineers... it quickly becomes much more cost-effective to offload the production to someone who's got everything already figured out. Why do you think so many fab-less semiconductor companies exist? And, what's wrong with using stock designs? If they already are good and efficient, why waste money for marginal improvements? It would still be an ARM architecture in the end...
So, before the ban, there was no point in being independent on chips. Now there is. They have legitimate and financially-sound reasons to become self-reliant.
Huawei Mate 30 Pro, 22 May 2020This is the result of a Chinese company like Huawei 'having eaten' American companies like App... moreSure... I mean, it's because of Huawei that Google's Pixels are garbage that don't sell. Since the ban, their sales skyrocketed and the Pixel 4 series was the most adored one yet! And what about Apple... They lost hundreds of millions of customers every single year to Huawei. They almost went bankrupt over this. They reported massive YoY losses for the quarter preceding the ban.
Abhi-Darth-Plagueis, 22 May 2020I highly doubt "in the long runz when Huawei will be independent from all things American made... moreJust because company buys and uses other companies components doesn't mean they can't produce their own.
It's all about creating a product at a more profitable cost and your reasoning about countries or companies not being able to produce chips for a some time but instead rely arm architecture doesn't mean no one can.
What you may think is impossible to you may not be impossible to others and what may impossible to one generation may not be impossible to another generation.
In short, things are only possible to those who believe they are possible and if Huawei believes it's possible, only time will tell.
Mind you most of the common things we see today were not possible a century ago and even a few years ago and if you had to told those people at that time that it was possible, they would not have believed you.
I highly doubt "in the long runz when Huawei will be independent from all things American made..." line of logic. If it was so easy to manufacture a chip, other countries could have done it even before. Huawei can't design even a custom architecture for its Kirin chips and relies on stock ARM designs. This is just mind games by Huawei.
Huawei Mate 30 Pro, 22 May 2020This is the result of a Chinese company like Huawei 'having eaten' American companies like App... moreThis is the result of you being a wumao and start talking non-sense without proof. Both Apple and Google are not that friendly with Trump, especially Google, which censored and filtered information in 2016.
Apple has the issue of having factories in China, which is their breaking point with Trump.
This is the result of a Chinese company like Huawei 'having eaten' American companies like Apple or Google in the production and quality of mobile devices: they have to call Daddy-Clown-Trump to ban it and he accuse false spying without providing evidence any.
[deleted post]I think you should separate the governments from the countries. A corrupted government will not be representative of the population's will for example. Likewise, I don't call the American nation a populist mess of dummies acting without considering the consequences of their actions, because that would be completely unfair to hundreds of millions of them. I doubt Malaysians as a whole are worshippers of China and haters of America. Unless I'm wrong, but we'd need a survey to at least consider it.
In poorer countries, corruption is rampant. Thus it would be even more true that this may not be representative of the population.
Now you'd probably say "Well, elect someone that's not corrupt!" That's often not possible. Any competitors who want to go against the status quo would be... eliminated from the competition. Not necessarily with a gun, there are other ways to do this without killing anyone.
All this to say to be more considerate of the people beyond thire government.

Just opinion , 22 May 2020China will be the biggest loser here unfortunately. They have cheap labour and factories but t... morecontrary to what you believed, China is no longer a cheap labour country, even some of their own low end industries moved factory to Vietnam etc.
companies nowadays stay in China due to complete supply chain, and innovation
China now is not just the copy and produce in the older days, just look at mobile phone itself, most of mobile phone innovations are now dream up and implement by Chinese phone makers
[deleted post]The US is not "supporting" their allies. They're defending potential profits from China.
I don't think Huawei will be popular in the west ever again. Most people don't want a phone with an app gap.

You still living in 1980s?
You better educate yourself a bit more, my friend.
Huawei is dead without Google services. App Gallery is infested with fake apps and malwares.
This is what the Chinese do. Threaten and throw tantrums to get their way. Huawei, if you just used your products as intended and didn’t allow your masters to spy on people using your products, this wouldn’t have happened. Also people are done with your threats and bullying. No more Chinese goods for us, thank you very much.
I’m sorry. You have it all wrong. The world is standing upto China and Han Chinese people. America does not need China. It’s the China and Chinese businesses that need America and american companies. American companies were already leaving China when Chinese communist party required all foreign businesses to forcefully handover their technology. Enjoy your days till it lasts. Eventually, Chinese businesses will be pariahs and you will no longer be needed.
What this man says is really true. Once Huawei finds a way around it other companies will follow and the US will loose its autonomy in major tech
